Wasted today. He has so much running power and to use it to link play and score goals and expose Shaw, and get into pockets is an absolute waste.

That running should have been used to cover Digne and or Cash.

Obviously.

That's **** football.

The Stevie G playbook! 🤣

I've been critical about him in recent months. Not overly critical but questioning if he should be starting.

On reflection so many of our players regressed under Gerrard and they were older, more experienced pros.  It's not surprising that a young inexperienced player like Ramsey has suffered more than most.

That’s ok. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but do you seriously think when Emery gets his feet under the table that Villa’s midfield will still consist of Ramsey, Luiz and McGinn?? I firmly believe that all three will be gone over the next two transfer windows.

Villa’s major weakness for quite some time has been their midfield. It’s a midfield that won’t ever get Villa finishing in a European placement!

Why do you think Kamara was brought in and Luiz was dropped?

Why do you think Ramsey & McGinn were dropped immediately by an interim manager?

I’m in no doubt whatsoever that it will be a vastly changed Villa midfield by the end of next summer and with good reason.

You’ve gone quiet.

Two things:

I thought it was a penalty at the time. Probably still do even if the ball goes a long way.

Is wish Ings had played him in down the line when he broke at the end. He was in!

A great game from Ramsey in a formation that got the best out of his skillset. (You can copy that into about 7 player threads after today)

He needs to be played in a position where he can run with the ball. He has an unerring ability to drive forward with the ball under close control and move us further up the pitch. He’s also worth a few goals each season too as he takes up good positions and isn’t afraid to make late runs into the box.

As a 6/8 or wherever the f*** he was under Gerrard, he was wasted, now he’ll be played in a role that suits him more because the manager isn’t a cretin.

He’s still got a ways to go but he’s developing into a very solid PL player.

Hard not to really like Ramsey.

Where did he play today?

Best way to describe it is as RM with Bailey as a Pseudo RW in front of him.

His defensive duties were out right and sometimes he sort of played like a RB when defending with cash tucking in as a 3rd CB.

And on offence when we weren't counter attacking he was the one providing the width down the right.

Goes to show it’s not unusual to have midfielders covering defensive areas like Gerrard had him and Mcginn the only problem or (many) with Gerrard’s system is they didn’t transition into an attacking phase or press or counter. Emery’s system is so Fluid and everyone knew their job.
