Not sure if it was just the channel showing the Villa match or all Aussie sports but the commentator kept calling it the Harvey Norman replay everytime they showed a replay

That’s more of a radio thing to be honest. Though the channel which had the game has only had football for 1 year and is a free to air channel so is desperate for $

Just looking on FPL and saw the arranged televised fixtures so far until the end of September…

First game week:

Palace Arsenal

Fulham Liverpool

Everton Chelsea

Man Utd Brighton

West Ham Man City

followed by:

Villa Everton

Brentford Man Utd

Forest West Ham

Chelsea Spurs

Liverpool Palace

Spurs Wolves

Bournemouth Arsenal

Leeds Chelsea

Newcastle Man City

Man Utd Liverpool

Southampton Man Utd

Arsenal Fulham

Wolves Newcastle

Forest Spurs

(4 games concurrent on BT including Chelsea)

(5 games concurrent on BT including Arsenal Man City Spurs Liverpool all playing smaller opposition)

Leicester Man Utd

Everton Liverpool

Villa Man City

Chelsea West Ham

Man Utd Arsenal

Fulham Chelsea

Man City Spurs

West Ham Newcastle

Palace Man Utd

Leeds Forest

Villa Southampton

Wolves Man City

Spurs Leicester

Brentford Arsenal

Chelsea Liverpool

The following gameweek looks like it hasn’t been arranged yet but has the NL derby and Manchester derby conveniently on the same weekend, and the couple game weeks after have ARS LIV, EVE MNU, LIV MCI, AVL CHE, MNU NEW, ARS MCI etc etc that are obviously going to be picked.

Point being, if you wanna watch your team on TV, you have to watch them get **** by one of the big 6.

I figured there may be one of those situations where things look worse than they are because you bolded only the big 6 teams.

And 6 vs 14 is a reasonable amount  so you might expect a significant chunk of games to involve a member of the big 6 anyway even if it were random.

Checked to see total ratio of appearances of big 6 teams versus the other 14....

50% of teams appearing belong to the big 6 (expected ratio 30%)

50% of the teams appearing belong to the other 14. (Expected ratio 70%)

So I was wrong, and it is obscenely weighted in favour of the big 6.

They then get around £1.5m per TV appearance

Keeping the big teams big

Do they? I thought the TV money was weaved into the prize money you get for where you finish?

I can see both sides tbh. Yes, it sends more money to the big teams but then those games will draw bigger audiences which is what the TV companies are trying to do. Put matches on that people want to see.

If I’m at a loose end on a Sunday and Arsenal versus Chelsea is on I’ll watch it. If it’s Fulham versus West Ham I might instead sort the garage out or cut the grass.

All teams have a minimum amount of televised games.

No its separate

If I get on the laptop tomorrow I'll try and find it

There's disparity in the prize money and then in the appearance money
