Good when seen him for Basel too. Seens unlikely though? Agreed right until the last. Very likely.

He can also play wide. And I'd imagine some of Westwood, Gardner and tshibola will be leaving in the summer.

VillaAlex
Well I am very happy then, thought he'd be out of our reach and more of a midtable Premier League signing. A major coup for us.
Reivax_Villa
Its in the Mail now Quote Birkir Bjarnason has agreed to join Aston Villa and is due in for a medical tomorrow, the Birmingham Mail understands. The 28-year-old Icelandic midfielder is moving from Swiss side FC Basel and will add to Villa’s growing list of January arrivals. Barnsley duo James Bree and Conor Hourihane are also set to sign with Villa just waiting to finalise the deals. It’s thought that Bree could be announced today while Hourihane’s move is expected to be completed tomorrow. Bjarnason, a Iceland international, played for Basel in the Champions League this season and has bagged four goals already this term. He will bring goals and creativity to a midfield region that has been lacking in recent times should he pass a medical at the club, as expected. Boss Steve Bruce has been keen to add to the midfield to help boost his side’s promotion push. Villa are also looking for a new striker after their £6m bid for Jordan Rhodes was turned down by Middlesbrough last week. http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/aston-villa-set-sign-iceland-12502049

Popular Post bose
Would love this to be true. The Icelandic media is just reporting what the English media are reporting. He's my favorite player for the Icelandic team, he's mainly a wide midfielder but he can also do a good job in center midfield. Not a typical winger, he's not that quick but he's very intelligent and works very hard and is a good passer of the ball. Delighted if this is true, he'll do a great job for us and can't wait until it's confirmed!
