according to wiki he's a midfielder so can't see this being true unless one of Gardner Westwood or tsishbola are on the way out leaving considering hourihane is also all but signed

Can also play wing - versatile player by all accounts.

anyone seen what fee we are quoted for him ?

It looks nailed on.

He can also play wide.

And I'd imagine some of Westwood, Gardner and tshibola will be leaving in the summer.

Birkir Bjarnason has agreed to join Aston Villa and is due in for a medical tomorrow, the Birmingham Mail understands.

The 28-year-old Icelandic midfielder is moving from Swiss side FC Basel and will add to Villa’s growing list of January arrivals.

Barnsley duo James Bree and Conor Hourihane are also set to sign with Villa just waiting to finalise the deals.

It’s thought that Bree could be announced today while Hourihane’s move is expected to be completed tomorrow.

Bjarnason, a Iceland international, played for Basel in the Champions League this season and has bagged four goals already this term.

He will bring goals and creativity to a midfield region that has been lacking in recent times should he pass a medical at the club, as expected.

Boss Steve Bruce has been keen to add to the midfield to help boost his side’s promotion push.

Villa are also looking for a new striker after their £6m bid for Jordan Rhodes was turned down by Middlesbrough last week.
