sidcow Posted December 31, 2017 VT Supporter Share Posted December 31, 2017 With us he has a chance of Premier League football next year. With them he has guaranteed Championship football next season.

sne
TBF I think there is a bigger chance of Brom staying in the PL than of us getting promoted. Both are slim thou. Onlt reason Man U signed and extension was so they get some money for him. This way they'd get £4m now. Not much but there is nothing saying we'd or anyone else be willing to pay that much for him in the summer.
Demitri_C
We could be swapping leagues next year, he is better off waiting.
Vive_La_Villa
I don't think he is good enough for the Premier League. Terrified to come off his line on crosses.

Demitri_C
Personally i think it was a stupid clause to put in if he can be recalled in Jan. If united insisted in it we should have looked elsewhere
markavfc40
I think this is a nothing story given the source and I am very confident he'll be here until the end of the season at the very least.

If united insisted in it we should have looked elsewhere Wonder if we have a similar clause in the Gollini deal with Atalanta? Yes he's not great, but if given a choice between having him and Steer competing for the GK spot and spending no money. Or potentially panic buying someone in January with our probably very limited funds... Not sure which is worse tbh. mattyvilla
im sure all keepers have a recall clause due to the nature of the position they play
Dr_Pangloss
Would be no loss. Jed Steer will be just as solid at this level. Johnstone makes costly errors and cannot command his area. I'll imagine, at Premier League level, he'll end up being one of those professional back up keepers, like Stuart Taylor.

GREAT_BEARD_OF_ZEUS
Feel a bit better knowing Steer will be next in line rather than Bunn, however I think we'll replace him with another loan if he goes. Jakupovic is currently 3rd choice at Leicester and was signed under Bruce. Think he's be gettable and a quality signing.
Junxs
I don't think he's going anywhere until the summer. Even if he did, Steer is a fantastic keeper and is unlucky not to be first choice here anyway. Did fantastically well when he played in preseason and the cup games, and at a time SJ looked very dodgy he should have been given the chance to prove himself - and I'm confident he would have established himself as the main keeper in that situation so wouldnt be the end of the world. Having said that who would be on the bench.. Bunn? we'd be "down to the bare bones"

Stratvillan
Think Johnstone is solid, no more, may well develop his aerial ability as de gea did. More annoyed as I bought my 9 year old a goalie top 3 weeks ago with Johnstone on the back. Goes well with his brothers Tishbola one !
