I've never heard a bad word about Villa from either of those two, and in fact just last night on Radio 5 Townsend said that Villa mean a lot to him (I don't think he ever moved from the midlands). So I don't know where you've got your impression from. To be honest I couldn't care less what ex players say anyway. Platt was one of the best Villa players of the last 30 odd years and was absolute dynamite in a Villa shirt. Yeah, I've only ever heard good things spoken about Villa from Townsend, Platts disdain was aimed more towards Deadly if memory serves me, for cashing in on him when he was in his pomp, he pretty much had his pick of clubs and got sold to a mediocre Serie A team.
