Bolton players have gone on strike for tge last 2 games of the season

Shambles and wont be the last

it's a shame but you have to agree with the players here.

Should they not turn up will the youth team play or forfeit the game 3-0 is the bigger question.

The Bolton situation highlights how little use FFP is to protecting clubs. All it's for is keeping clubs down, stopping any ambitious owners from crashing the big boys party.

So a medium size club reaching for the stars can be deducted points so they, ironically, lose more money and status. A club that is just in a mess like Bolton is not protected, games are called off and the fans ultimately suffer.

The whole thing is a disgrace from top to bottom.

The Bolton players have been patient, and nobody should work for free.

Sadly, this could make things a lot worse for the club though. Probable points deduction coming for next season?

I'd assume so. This is where the PFA should step up too.  You'd think they'd ask their members to help out with a contribution to cover the Bolton squad for the outstanding amount.

Can you imagine if they had to play someone chasing promotion/playoffs or trying to stay up? The EFL cant force Bolton to play but other teams would rage if a rival got 3 points awarded (Im looking at you here Mr Gibson...)

Thankfully they've got Brentford and Forest

I think the EFL got lucky here with the fixtures

Apparently they already did that or something similar in December

EFL have just released a statement:

Following the decision to suspend the fixture between Bolton Wanderers and Brentford late on Friday evening, the EFL Board has determined that Bolton Wanderers must complete their two outstanding matches in the Sky Bet Championship.

The Club has been instructed to now make the appropriate arrangements for the rearrangement of Saturday’s game at the earliest opportunity.

In issuing this directive, the Board is aware that a number of the Clubs’ Professional Players may not make themselves available but is satisfied that a team can be selected from the players they have registered and available to them.

The EFL would have forced the Club to play this weekend’s fixture had the under-18 team not been involved in a game on Thursday and the potential player welfare issues this could have created for the Club in the longer term. This same issue will not reoccur as the Club is able to plan the players’ preparation and recovery time accordingly.

Basically they want the youth team to scab.

They really don't want the legal mess of having unfulfilled fixtures. The decent thing to do would be to pay the staff what they are owed.  Expecting kids to scab a month before they will probably get released is a dick move.

I dunno, if you're one of those 16/17 year old kids you'd probably love the chance to play for the first team irrespective of the circumstances.

This, this and this. Very questionable statement from the EFL.
