It probably will be Moyes....logical choice...he can save face with the "Villa are such a big club" card offsetting the fact he'll be managing in The Championship.

Why are Grayson fans banging the drum so hard?  I'm intrigued...

1- We can probably attract him to Villa

2- Promotion specialist. 4 promotions in about 10 years as a manager

3- Has managed a big club in a crisis in the championship before at Leeds. Got them promoted to the championship and to 7th in the league- they haven't been that close since he left 4 years ago

4- In his mid 40s but has plenty of management experience

5- Has played for Villa in the past so has some understanding of the club. Would know Little.

I just think he would be a solid  and realistic appointment after the 'experimental' choices of the last 2.

Edit 6- Having had Bates as a Chairman, Randy should be a walk in a park for him!

Stan is at 20/1. Obviously it's not going to happen and I wouldn't want it to happen (yet) but I would honesty take him over Pearson.

On second thoughts, maybe not. I'd hate to see someone like him be gradually broken by this club and get shafted by the pricks at the top.

I think it'll be Moyes and I would be happy if we do appoint him.

The club still has a big enough stature to be attractive to him. Yet at the same time, should he/the team under perform next season, as it's the Championship it's a bit more out of the media spotlight so he won't get as much negative press if, or knowing us, when, it all goes tits up.

I hope we wait until the summer.

Any manager coming in now is going to start with 5 or 6 defeats and some of the fans will have turned on him by the summer anyway.

Yep, I can see it now. New manager comes in and fails to win another game because the players gave up a long time ago. Cue cries of "worst Villa manager in history".

Especially if he doesn't play Carles Gil.

Seen Pat Murphy saying the board want an English manager. I've no problem with the manager being English or any other nationality. But if that is a prerequisite it is just plain stupid. Nationality has NO bearing on ability to do the job. And before anyone starts, you can have experience of the English game and even the Championship and not be English.

You might as well say you only want a white manager, or you only want a manager who is taller than 6 foot.

Edit: though I realise if they're not an EU citizen they'd probably get their work permit vetoed .

Why are people so against Pearson. Yes he has his issues, but still has done a good job.

For me, he just seems to be 'flavour of the month', and there's not really anything that puts him up to the calibre of Moyes.

Like many other managers (that we will happily overlook) he has achieved promotion and then had an expected relegation battle in the Prem. The only additional things going for him are that he appears to be a disciplinarian (which other managers are too) and that his Leicester side are now going to win the league.

Leicester winning the league could be down to any number of things, of which he could have contributed to in varying degrees, so having that as the presumed main reason to go for Pearson feels like a bit of a gamble.

Gary Monk from what I hear has a lot of admirers on the villa board.

Christ, I hope we don't get Gary Monk. A one season wonder is the last thing we need right now. Swansea were **** dreadful under him by the end

Or even if they are in Kalinic's case.
