Relegation Thread Version...99?!

Okay, sure, but it remains fairly unlikely that we'll break the record for the worst ever total for a bottom-placed team, much in the same way it's unlikely whoever wins the title will break the record for the highest points total. It's in the nature of records that they're hard to beat.

I keep on reading this we can't go down with the new tv deal etc but it's not like prem clubs get paid peanuts now, we all get millions and millions as it is yet we spend at max net 20m under Lerner in summer transfer windows.

Even if we stay up we're not going to spend 70-80m next summer especially when he wants out and to sell.

Yes all the extra sky money means is the players wages go up

Mantis. I respect that your very much a glass half full when it comes to Villa, and I'm sure you'll remain positive. However, it is very rare that your positive stance is proven correct.

That's not me saying your always wrong or anything. But surely sooner or later, reality takes over?

Me saying we'll get more than 15 points is not me being positive it's me being realistic.

I have repeatedly said that I think it's very likely we'll go down - that's hardly a positive outlook. Just because I'm not ultra negative doesn't mean I'm positive.

But atm it's not because the reality is we won't get more than 15 points based on form.

The only reasoning you give is that form changes. It does but not always and there is certainly not a lot to suggest its going to change.

Actually, form almost always changes - it never stays the same. I'm not saying I think we'll show good enough form to stay up because I don't but it's highly unlikely that our form will stay this consistently bad for the entire season.

Go and look back at previous PL seasons. Many teams have been in a similar position to us and got quite a bit more than 15 points but still gone down.

We will get more than 15 points. All it takes is a draw v Watford, 4 points from Newcastle and Norwich, a draw at home to West Ham and 4 points from Palace and Leicester home games and there you go 15 points, a bit of momentum and still about 15 or so games to go. Yes yes I know it dosen't look likely at present but if we can't get many points off those teams we certainly will be getting relegated,

From what i've seen this season we will do very well to get 30 points so still going down.

After Saturday's result we are all down but if we swapped the last 2 results around we'd be thinking we'd turned a corner and would be confident going into the Watford game. I didn't expect anything out of the last 2 games yet we have 1 point extra  now hopefully the result Saturday  won't affect the little confidence the team has but we have to win on Saturday. If we do I think we'll be 2 points from safety which all of a sudden wouldn't look to bad at all. We have to win though!

Reality is we haven't won in the league since august.  Can't see us staying up unless we go on a Leicester style run. That was a miracle. They had Vardy and mahrez. We got nothing.

Our only hope is to stay within touching distance I'm January we buy a few stars. Won't happen as Randy will sell the higher earners preparing for the drop.

They had Vardy and Mahrez doing FA when they were bottom too let's not forget. We don't even need a Leicester type run. Mid-table form would see us through, we're only 5 points away from 17th.

I think its important for us that Sunderland lose today with a bad result. Confidence might begins coming if we could get a place higher.

I thought the Bournmout result was ideal. It kept Swansea near the s**t. And havent let Bournmouth out of it. They have the worst fixtures anyway.

Swansea will play a big part as theyll have couple of relegation teams to play.

If we could beat Watford. It would be a big relief. We would drag them back to this. Last season we were 10 points behind Newcastle. Weve been above them two weeks before the season ending.

Its a must win against Watford. After that just keep in touch with teams. And look how will it work.

Last season we went into 6 games losses in raw twice.

11 games with only two goals. Entered the danger zone at February. Then lost twice while were 18th. After that weve turned the corner.

Under Lambert we were a deadman walking with 15 goals conceded in 3 games. Stopped winning till february. The turned the corner again. Our situation is much worse now. But the time is earlier.

6 pointers matches is now the really must win games.

It's looking very bad, but teams do get bust up in this league, look at Porn Olympic FC v spurs yesterday. This is the first time it's happened to us this season, and to try and be positive

Everton can't really play much better

We can't play much worse

Everton are a top 8 team

We are a bottom 5 team

They have a 30 mil striker

We just sold one

It was *only* 4-0, you could expect one loss like that a season

I think the Premier League has moved up a notch in intensity and sheer pace this season. The ruthless closing down from Liverpool and Spurs and even teams like Leicester and Palace the pace they have in the team is something we can't produce; we are a million miles away from this type of intensity. The game has moved on from just having a big target man upfront, you need players adapt with their feet and Gestede can't do that. Ayew offers commitment but perhaps lacks that ruthless streak. West Brom have pace in Berahino, Rondon is good with his feet etc. When we go down Gestede will be useful along with a few others but really don't fit in at this level this season, looking at it we have more of a championship squad this season. If we had good wingers with pace (not Sinclair wingers with end product more specifically) we could setup to counter teams we don't even have that our width comes from the fullbacks which hasn't worked for over 2-3 seasons now, it's rubbish but might work in the championship but again is outdated at this level.

It is not looking good for us at this moment in time. Our only hope is that Remi can organise the useless clowns at the back over the next few weeks and quickly, and at the same time instil a bit of fight in the team. As captain and senior central defender Richards can take a fair chunk of the blame, he should be organising the team on the pitch, but it looks like he cannot even organise himself. I do think a big problem is coming from our Central defence not organising the players either side or immediatley in front of them. Richards has barely played over the last few years, and rarely played at CB in his career. It was a big and stupid risk getting him in as our only hope at CB in my opinion.

If fit and possible, I would be tempted to get Vlaar and Senderos back in together first thing in January.

A win is badly needed now, not just one win either, we need to string some victories together as our confidence is so fragile.
