Things that piss you off that shouldn't

Nephew has been training with the Ireland u20 rugby team as a reserve and the coach told him he'd be likely gonna play at least 1 game, his wrist has been sore this past week so he gets an X ray today and his wrist is fractured, small chance he might still be ok for the back end of the 6 nations but unlikely. I feel like punching a kitten :/

The fact that our work firewall has a rule blocking gambling sites.  Why?  It's not illegal.  If I choose to do it on my own time then I should be free to.  If I want to view it during working hours then it should be no worse than browsing facebook or any other non-work related site, so ban those too on that basis.  Why demonise betting in particular?  Makes no sense.

I stayed in a youth hostel in Hong Kong this time last year, and they not only blocked pr0n but also gambling sites as well. Their definition of 'gambling' included both Fantasy Premier League and Fantasy Football Scout.

We have worse than that.

A couple of years ago my company entered the corporate games. We entered people into every category for which we had someone willing to compete.
However, despite "Poker" being part of the games, there was no option to sign up for that.

I enquired, along with a few others, and was told that because gambling is against company policy, we wouldn't be entering anyone into that category.

So not only do we have the same approach as your company, we've also wrongly applied that policy to something which is effectively completely different.

Putting my PC 'let's think of the children' head on for a minute, it might be to make it difficult for those who do have a gambling problem, with its addictive nature and with events going on all day all around the world.  Addicts might have difficulty doing their job and it's safer to just use the banhammer.  Still, mumble grumble mumble etc etc.

More likely worried that some will be 'offended' for religious reasons, since Gambling is forbidden among the 'established' religions.

I've been to a Ladbrokes in Charleroi.

Slightly weird - you had to knock on the door and get 'buzzed in' by the bod behind the counter like some old style snooker club.

My mate lives in Thailand and it's all blocked there as well , he can't even access the sportinglife web page to get sports news

and yet this is Thailand where gambling is rife and not just when you go bareback at the Eden club

Devils advocate here but its their net connection so down to them what you can and can't view. I understand what you are saying but i'm just being awkward! Roughly 50% of the internet is blocked at my workplace - no social media, no blogs, no forums, no music sites, no game sites, no gambling sites, the list goes on. If i want to view Japanese futanari porn, I have to do it on my phone via my 3G (yes I'm outdated) connection
