peterms
Imaginary scene from an Employment Tribunal, some time later this year: Chair of Tribunal: Good morning, Mr Pardew. Could we begin by asking you to outline the basis for your claim of constructive dismissal? Mr Pardew: Well, I was appointed manager, reporting to the owner and responsible for all football matters. Although the owner Mr Ashley at no point expressed discontent with my work, he appointed someone to do part of my job, making me report to the new employee, Mr Kinnear. This created significant embarrassment and distress on my part, because Mr Kinnear made many comments to the media which became widely derided, making him and by extension me a figure of fun in the footballing world. He comes across as a rude, ignorant, self-obsessed, shallow... Chair of Tribunal: Mr Pardew, I'm sorry to interrupt, but I should say at this point that the tribunal members have had the opportunity of reviewing the interviews in question, and it may save some time if I say that we find unanimously in your favour. Next!
dont_do_it_doug.
I'm sure you all know this but Newcastle absolutely HATE us for relegating them and the celebrations that ensued. Properly hate us. I'm going to enjoy this.

Next! Indeed. It's clearly a gamble on the side of Ashley and his lawyers, rather than sack him outright and pay the full wedge of his contract they'll want him to walk and see if they can regain any losses in court. If I was a Newcastle fan I'd be livid. Say what you like about Randy, but he bore the brunt of his error with McLeish without hesitation. I'd love to know the real reason behind the 8 year deal too should anyone wish to PM me.

legov
Went on one of the Newcastle forums for a laugh. Pardew's first meeting with Joe? AP "I don't want Robbie Earle, he's 48 Joe". JK "Right wing, Robbie Earle, I told Derek to sign him, don't you show me up". AP "Joe, he's 48, he retired years ago" JK "Yes, Earle. Yes, right wing. You will. Yes, yes, yes, YES YES YES"
