The Randy Lerner thread

Official statement from Lerner..

"Following the point yesterday at Villa Park, there have been stories about my selling the Club. On a personal level, I had hoped the emphasis would have been on the amazing effort on the part of our manager and our players to regroup throughout a very difficult week. Injuries to Libor and Christian, compounded with the early loss of Jores and the difficult rehab of Charles have no doubt left Paul with far less to work with than is fair. Still, Paul Lambert has done nothing but work within the parameters I've set, put the Club first and continue to trust his players. As regards my personal role at the Club and the steady rumours of a sale, I will address these after the season. Paul Lambert, Paul Faulkner and I speak daily and remain committed to the immediate job of limiting distraction and confusion in order that Villa have the best chance possible of finishing on a strong note."

- Randy Lerner, Aston Villa Chairman

Well there you go. At long **** last.

No 'plan' to go again just 4 shocking seasons so a billionaire could minimise their loss.

Good **** riddance. A disaster of an owner and can't wait for it to be all over.

A disaster? From 2006-10 we were an absolute joy to watch and had some of the best players in the country at our disposal. Granted, after 2010 we haven't really been up to much but I'll never forget how good we were before that and that's down to Lerner

Any idiot with money can spend it.

8 years and only 3 of them could be considered very good. The last 4 have been record breaking bad. Disaster.

In fairness to Lerner, the Houlier season wasn't of his making, it was thrust upon him by MON walking 5 days before the season started.

In order to sell, he has placed the club in a position that makes it as financially viable & attractive as possible. Ellis did exactly the same with DOL in charge prior to selling.

I hope people understand the remit Lambert was working under in order to get us in the position where we are an attractive purchase.

What is clear is we desperately need 4 or 5 proven, quality players in the summer just to keep our heads above the relegation places-Hopefully with a new owner/owners, we can afford to do this.

Something is happening behind the scenes, that is for certain.

It's a bit like the 'not actively looking to sell' comment from Faulkner.

If you absolutely have no intention of selling something you own, then that's what you say. You don't say 'I am not actively looking to sell or I will address this at a later date.

I'm not convinced he is selling up completely, but I do think he might be looking to share the burden.
