The Randy Lerner thread

Well thank you Randy, your daddy would be so proud of you! You have managed to kill not 1 but 2 sports teams! You ruined the browns, now you have killed Aston Villa. Proud history bright future? We have a proud history but the future under you looks far from bright!

Time to hit him where it hurts! In the wallet!

Taking AVFC out of the calculation.

Does anyone know much money does RL have atm?

Apparently he's worth £950m (http://www.birminghampost.co.uk/business/finance/rich-list-2015-no4---8479654), his net worth appears to be sliding somewhat, some sources had it at £1.5m in 2013, but methodologies/sources can obviously differ.

I really try not to hate this man, he really wanted what was best for us, he has spent so much money on the club it is ridiculous. But just every decision he makes is the wrong one, he has made so many mistakes it's unforgivable. If he has just swallowed his pride a little bit in the start and hired a proper staff, players that knew football and could give proper advice, then we would probably be a top team today. But he really has put a lot of cash in the club, just sad it's been wasted so much.

I agree. And now he's basically washed his hands of the club. Not big, not cool, not clever.

Someone on wm has claimed Hollis has been bought in to sell the ground and training ground and rent it back , so Randy can walk away with his money

People just making things up.

If the ground/training facilities are sold and leased back then it just reduces the value of what's left. I'm sure Lerner wants to sell it as a job lot, not piecemeal

Of course it's nonsense, but in the current atmosphere the club can hardly be surprised that malicious rumours are floating around.

I'm probably on my own in thinking this but I think we will see concrete offers for the club once we are relegated, obviously not for the asking price but interest will be there if it is still on the market.

Could be right.  Particularly if a lot of the players have relegation clauses in their contracts that reduce their salary.  It would mean whoever buys the club might pay a reduced rate, have reduced running costs and if we're promoted inside a couple of years could get to a profitable position.

Oh, how I love that the outcome of a football match can be predicted on one of those calculators with a till roll on the back of it.

Indeed, Hollis has worked for a company with a background of asset stripping stricken companies so I can see how these rumours may start.

However, the club is a far more attractive sale proposition owning its own ground and training facilities

Out of interest, is that his actual background?

KPMG's services are much broader than being liquidators or asset strippers. They offer other stuff such as tax and advisory services (for example), and they're also specialists in helping companies expand and grow.

I've not paid enough attention to Hollis to find out what his precise employment history is.

FWIW....that is exactly how I see it all.

ps ...I just like the line when its rolled out....." you can't blame the players for not being good enough"

and the correlation of that, is?

pps If Al Lerner was alive.... he would probably have kicked his *** big time.

Just an awful owner. Two failed teams in two different sports. For all sport fans out there I hope this **** idiot has had enough with the world of professional sports.

Well he gave up on football about 5 years ago.
