The Randy Lerner thread

Surely a supporter led takeover would not be a good thing. It would mean the club would find its natural self-sufficient level - where it can wash it's own face and no more. IMHO that level is on the border between the PL and Championship. If we were to get relegated we would just go into a spiral that only an injection of money would stop and there's nowhere for that injection of money to come from.

The truth is that the newspapers (and especially us) have no idea whether the club is up for sale for 100million, 110 million or 97million.

Further, we have no idea if this is a lot of money (comparisons to spurs are just not adequate!)

A new owner is not looking at buying a football club. They are looking at buying a BUSINESS, and Villa are a low profit business (in fact we are a no profit business at the minute), and here is some evidence to prove it

http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/aston-villa-post-518m-loss-6759930

Would you throw any money if you know that there is a massive risk of not getting a return at all, or even worse (which thank God looks unlikely) Villa being relegated?

I simply do not understand how some of us take our rumoured price (which I am 100% sure is BS anyway) to be a 'bargain'; or even some of us seem to suggest that 5million this way or that way is not a lot of money in the grand scheme of things. The potential buyers are rich because for them a difference between 100million or 105 million might be massive.

Rant Over.

I think this is where Fox can be a big asset to the Villa cause. It's the kind of thing that squeezes the romance out of the game, but he's proven to be quite good at it, the whole marketing thing. Villa are the biggest club in the second biggest city in England. I'm sure Fox is well aware of this fact, and is chomping at the bit to take advantage of it. He'll also make a much stronger international push. If Villa are not playing summer tournaments in China within 3 years, I'll be stunned. An astute businessman would identify Aston Villa as a club with massive potential to actually turn a profit, and actually make it happen, hopefully with Fox staying on.

Newsflash! They changed.

We need to be run well now we have no chance of buying our way to success.

Deal with that fact in your mind

Seeing that a massive amount of Villa fans moan about the season ticket prices despite being some of the cheapest in the league, I very much doubt we could the dough together.

Yep moan about prices and want way more than what's paid for in a lot of cases

They play paranoid when the team comes out for the second half. Clearly Ozzy buying the club is on the cards.

That would make the home games a whole lot more interesting if the Prince Of Darkness himself owned us. Who knows, he might even put some bite into our attack!

Vassos Alexander who does the sport on Chris Evans Radio 2 show said on Air he was a Villa fan.  Think he recently said it was tough being a Villa Fan these seasons so the Club sent him a shirt to cheer him up.

Couple more:

Dave Wakeling lead singer of the Beat

Adam Ruckwood - Former Commonwealth Swimming Champion.
