Was going to say, I remember some people on here saying Augustin was an outrageously good signing :D

Let's not let this thread slip.

We kept pointing out sheff u whenever they'd talk about how no promoted team had ever taken the prem by storm like Leeds had.

I'm delighted it's going wrong. And they've spent some serious money these two summers as well.

Don't hear much about Biesla from the pundits these days.

Last season it seemed they just got injuries in defence but this season they're getting them all over the pitch.

Think they played Southampton without Bamford, Phillips and Raphinnia so just don't have the squad depth. Will stay up comfortably but won't be troubling the top half this time.

I think Bielsa could be gone by New Year.  They have played 4 teams so far that will be in the relegation battle and have struggled. Bamford looking like a one season wonder when he has played

yesterday 3 shots zero on target

Not really surprising that they're struggling when you look at their team, the likes of Cooper, Stuijk, Ayling, Dallas, Forshaw, Klitch, and Roberts likely wouldn't get in another Premier League team, some of them probably wouldn't get in top end championship teams.

Their next three games are Brighton, Palace, and Brentford, they could do with a decent haul of points from those, because after that they play Chelsea, Man City, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Aston Villa over the Christmas period.

The Bielsa novelty starting to wear off now. Certainly from the neutral point of view anyway .

The media have Gerrard now as well which will take a lot of the media exposure that the top 6 dont get

Didn't do anywhere near enough in the market. Say what you want Bielsa and the wankfest he has done wonders and players can only outperform their mean for so long. Dan James and Firpo was it? Harrison made perm.

Not really the standards to be set if you want to kick on.

Will be interesting to see whether they improve their results as their better players come back . . . apparently Raphinha and Rodrigo should be back next weekend, and Bamford not long after. If they take a long time to get back into the groove, Leeds are going to be hard-pressed to avoid the drop.

Top six was never realistic for Leeds, but there were people on here were predicting them to challenge for it. Last season they over achieved and as a result became an overrated team.

I don’t think it’s as simple as them just being overrated. They undoubtedly did overachieve but they’re also suffering from key injuries, they look like they’ve suffered the most from the poor preseason every club seems have had and bielsa just doesn’t seem to be able to get the same level of energy/impact he once did.

Would it surprise you to hear he’s approaching the most time he’s ever spent managing a club? There’s a reason he doesn’t stay in one place too long.

Kalvin Phillips’ post match interview was interesting and seemed to hint at a potential breakdown between the players and the strategy/tactics, you could see he wanted to say more but he said enough anyway, along the lines of being more pragmatic and not trying to overplay all the time.

I can imagine that when things are going well and results are positive it must be fun playing under Bielsa but once those results begin suffering it will have players questioning the method and that can be a slippery slope.
