One of their biggest problems is their over-reliance on Bamford. When he’s not playing well, or at all as is the case currently, they miss that focal point. A bit like how we relied so much on Watkins doing that job for us last season.

Raphinha is class though. He won’t hang around long if Bielsa goes.

Thing is, Bamford is not that good a player. He went through the mother of all purple patches last season that was such an anomaly compared to anything he'd ever done.

Leeds fans wanted rid after getting promoted because he was so wasteful in the Championship for them. It really is amazing how he had such a good season out of the blue.

The implosion is much overstated.

Fixtures so far:

  • Burnley, draw.
  • Everton, draw
  • Man United, loss
  • Liverpool, loss,
  • Newcastle draw,
  • West Ham, draw

Liverpool and Man United are expected losses, and West Ham probably are as well. They'd be expecting to do better against Newcastle and Burnley. A draw at Everton isn't a bad result.

It's not a good start, but there are 3 or 4 very tricky fixtures there, it's certainly a long way from being an implosion. Their next 4 games against Watford, Southampton and Wolves and Norwich are key, they probably want 8 points from that to get out of this slump. Anything less than 6 is probably a bit of a disaster and signifies they might be in a bit of trouble this season, IMO, but the tales of their demise are a bit premature at this point.

They did lose against West Ham yesterday, 1-2.

You’re right though, I’m that it’s too soon to say they’re doomed. It’s fun to speculate though.

Its the performance though, Liverpool could have scored 8. Newcastle had about 12/15 chances that game

They're held in high regard after last season - both with their own fans and with pundits generally.  Most people were predicting a top half finish for them this season.  In fact, Phil McNulty's prediction of 11th is the lowest I think I've seen.  From the same games last season (and that obviously means very little, but as a comparison point) they had 7 points.

Implosion?  Doomed?  No.  Shit start that has silenced their (**** annoying) fan base?  Yes.

Yeah but they're the best team in the world with the best manager in the world and they play the greatest football in the world that everyone else is incredibly envious of and wants to emulate
