Daweii
I think Gabby has got a fight on his hands after Teke's arrival He's had it too easy here. I am just glad that Lambert isn't giving him an easy ride, if Gabby wants to stay at this club then he has to fight for it which is something he has never had to do. We may just get the best out of him now.

Bazdavies79
His best ever game in a Villa shirt today. Shame he didn't get a goal.
AValon
The fact that he actually did'nt score will, I'm sure, be highlighted by the anti-SI posters. He once said something nasty about Birmingham you know.
Dr_Pangloss
His miss was absolutely awful. But apart from that his performance was fantastic. If he plays like that or close to that level every week no one would be able to knock him. More of the same next game Mr Ireland.
AVFCforever1991
Have to admit, he had a good game. Shame he couldn't put away that 1 chance he had.. Well played.
samjp26
To be fair on him it probably wasn't as easy to score that shot as it seemed, solid performance though and I hope he continues trying to earn that contract he wants

His weaker foot and took a lot of control to get the shot off in the first place.

rodders1986
Reaping the rewards of not playing alongside the likes of Herd and Warnock. Him and Ahmadi bring the best out of each other. Proper footballers!

It was very bad, he really should have at least got it on target, even on his 'weaker' foot, no excuses. But other than that he was magnificent, no denying that. HolteEndRob
I thought some of the through balls he was doing were absolutely useless but he had a decent game overall. He was getting into good positions trying to support Bent. I thought they linked pretty well today which is promising. Keep at it Ireland!

He didn't have one of his better games today IMO, which is weird as those who get on his case think he played well. Definitely vastly differing definitions of what constitutes a good performance
MikeMcKenna Posted September 2, 2012 VT Supporter Share Posted September 2, 2012 Thought that was one of Ireland's most competent performances for us in the PL. I accept that he still made some poor decisions but he looked more confident - maybe because he had KEA around?

Keyblade
He did really well and had a couple of immaculate touches. Some of his one touch play has been superb. It's a shame N'Zogbia has been so terrible as he'd probably link up well with him..
moose
Confidence player, and it looks like the confidence might be coming back. Think "awful" is slightly harsh about his shot although I did blurt out a few expletives under my breath when he missed. The game Lambert's trying to get them to play is definitely going to benefit Ireland.
LockStockVilla
At the match today was in awe of some of his touches on the ball...absolutely amazing, now if only the lad can learn how to finish!
