Speculation: Ron Vlaar (Feyenoord)

Sorry, you might still have your free scarf and remember your free bus ride and that's enough. The last two years aren't forgotten just because it's Randy Lerner for me.

Mock it all you like, makes no sense not to get over it again none at all.

Lets hope nobody wrongs you in your work place or daily life, you will remember... FOREVER! ;)

To the tune of "John Carew Bigger than"

Ron Vlaar Vlaar

He went on the stadium tour

He ran off his mouth the tool

Ron Vlaar Vlaar

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

That's so so terrible it's funny that you'd even post it :D

If Vlaar actually comes, I suggest a new Villa Defence Song (to the tune of “Blue Suede Shoes”):

Well it's Ron Vlaar and Dunney, 2 we don’t know,

3’s a steady Eddie and Given’s in goal

But don’t you give us the Warnock blues,

I can take anything except those Hutton and Warnock blues.

I reckon the reason we didn’t sign Vlaar is down to wages.

I don’t think we are necessarily working on a one out, one in policy. But don’t think Lambert could justify having 5 defenders on high wages with Colins, Dunne, Warnock and Hutton already commanding decent wages. Until we offload one I don’t see us bringing in another ‘established’ defender on good wages. I think signings like Lowton, Cresswell etc Lambert will be able to sign them at will, due to it not having too much impact on increasing our overall wage structure.

I still think Lambert has the green light for another fairly big singing (in terms of wages), but think this will be a striker, freed up by getting rid of Heskey. But before anymore big signings can happen players like Hutton, Collins etc will be need to shown the door.

But after delivering one of the worst seasons the club has ever had

Really? - Can't have been following Villa for that long then

Last year wasn't one of the worst years we've had?

Points total, games won, goals scored, winless streaks. None of these were some of the worst we've had?

It was pretty poor but I guess you could count the season in which we got relegated to the third division as a little bit worse!

Really can't see this one happening now all Vlaar and his agent have been whingeing to the press. PL seems the type of guy to walk away from a deal if he feels it no longer suits as I get the feeling this may be the case. Strange how we've not heard from Villa since they started moaning in the press about us.

And I'm sure he would agree but then he didn't say it was the worst ever.

Yes but still last season is one of the worst. That's what I was stating in response to drat.

to me its nothing more than lambert went to the us, and decided to focus on the squad he was there with. as a result no transfer business, whether vlaar or otherwise, has been done...

vlaar mouthed off to the press before any deal had been agreed, and at that point, someone was going to end up with egg of his face. since villa don't play the press game, yet again it was us...

much like ole-gate, we've been made to look poor simply because we have refused to participate in a trail by media...

I don't think we look poor, I don't think anyone has actually noticed either way. This is not exactly a high profile transfer.

That is complete and utter nonsense.

As Briny says they have been a lot worse years following this club. Did we get relegated? Did we play in lower leagues? Did we have gates of 17000 watching us lose to Sheff Wed to get relegated a few years after winning the European cup? The list is endless.

You have (irrational IMO) hatred of Lerner that manifests itself in nearly every post where you try and justify it by quoting negative BS. The reality is that in today's football we actually have a very good chairman and a very good setup at the football club. We are not the obscene football killing rich club like Man City, Chelsea etc, but what we do have is a club and infrastructure at it that is still regarded by many both within and outside of the game as being one of the leading clubs.

Irrational posts like yours claiming that last year was one of the worst in the clubs history shows a complete lack of understanding regarding the history of the club both short and long term and is more of an indication of the kind of football fan that things like the Champs League, Premiership / Sky and the previously mentioned new money have created.

Worst season? Pah !
