Do people really think Sherwood will keep picking him over Grealish or indeed now Adama once they're properly fit. He did have our only worthwhile shot on target aswell. He's potentially an impact player, someone who can run the ball into the corner flag when we are one nil up with a couple mins to go. Sadly he's nothing more. Gestede will lead the line and two from Gil/Grealish/Traore will start most games leaving one position for Gabby/Sinclair/Ayew to fight over. Ive said for three years now Gabby can still be an important part of the team but only from the bench coming on against tired legs. Hes too one dimensional to be starting every week. I very much agree all three are too samey and should all be squad players. We need variety upfront and I'd like to think a front trio potentially of Grealish.....Gestede/new signing.....Adama can give us that in a months time. Barely a couple of minutes prior to his substitution, Sinclair was up and running at defenders, taking them on and trying to do something. You knew Amavi was going to get a good, fast, low cross in for someone to tap in, because that kind of situation is his bread and butter, but what happened? Ayew makes a near post run, drawing the United defender with him, leaving the back post completely wide open. What does Gabby do? Does he make that far post run? No, he decides to make the exact same run as Ayew to the near post, only is a yard behind him. The cross is too far in front of Ayew to get on, and if Gabby made the back post run, it's an easy tap in. After the play, when Ayew realized Gabby was on his heels, and not making a different run he gives him a WTF?!?!? look and Gabby's dumb ass just sort of shrugs it off. I was screaming at my TV when I saw that. If I was on the pitch, I could have scored that for us because I knew exactly what Amavi was going to do, based on watching him for 4 matches already, but Mr. Aston Villa, who does nothing but play football for 65k a week, couldn't notice he was making the exact same run as his teammate who was a yard in front of him.
