  1. The thing that really pisses me off about this transfer is the fact Spurs fans think he’s shit and don’t want him. If he wasn’t injured half of last season we probably would have gone up. There’s an argument that not having him this season would seriously dent our chances of promotion. With this in mind we should not be accepting anything under 35-40 million. In theory should be a good move for Jack (higher wages, opportunity to play Champions League, might get England call up) however he’ll have limited game time. Hopefuly on Saturday he’ll pull on a Villa too but I’m sadly doubtful and can’t help but feel it’s a bad move for all!
  2. I still don’t get this FPP and that we have to save £40 million (is this figure just a rumour?). In the last three years we’ve spent NET circa £30 million on players. This figure is literally peanuts in the game today (even at Championship level). Wages might be an issue but even then is this causing the £40 million black hole?
  3. I absolutely love Alan Hutton and he has had a superb season. However Alan is either absolutely horrendous or literally the Scottish Cafu. I sadly think if we do get promoted, which hopefully we will, we’ll see more of the bad than the Cafu. Im sure Alan will continue to perform like a real professional and get a contract at the end of the season with another Championship Club. It will also give us the rumoured 60k per week in wages to play about with. Thanks for everything Alan!!
  4. I’ve been a supporter of Bruce. I believe he is the right man for the current job, he has the CV etc. HOWEVER As a Villa Fan who doesn’t live in England yesterday’s match is the type of game I would have tried to have attended being in the holiday season. Bruce’s style of football is so utterly boring that even watching it on AVTV was bordering a waste of two hours, actually it was a waste of two hours. Im hoping we’ll finish top six, maybe even promotion. Bruce will get us over the line and no more. 1-0, 2-1. Nothing exciting, noting really worth watching.
  5. What has happened to Elphick? All I keep hearing from Bruce is he’s had a hard time since joining Villa. Then Bruce stated that if Whelan wasn’t sick he wouldn’t be playing. Should this really be said in an interview? Elphick was quality at Bournemouth, he was a Captain. He was our Captain when he first joined. What has happened? I’m confused!!
  6. Hogan is totally wasted at Villa. Our style of play does not suit his strengths. Hoofing it up to him expecting him to hold the ball up is laughable. Whipping in floaters to him is utterly pointless. Hogan needs the midfield to move the ball about then slot a ball through the defence or dink the ball over the top. Sadly there isn’t a player at the club that can do this which is a truly worrying and shameful. Id cash in on Hogan unless the team can work on providing to his strengths.
  7. So frustrating to watch. Team looks so unbalanced and we never seem to play to players strengths. E.G playing through balls for Davis then whipping crosses in when Hogan comes on. Team never looked like they got out of 3rd gear. Throwings were poor. Bjnarson is terrible. Whelan had a shocker, sadly barely saw Green. Surprised Adomah didn't come on. Its all a bit confusing. Add Snodgrass to the mix and God knows. There's about 24 guys who can put in a shift.
  8. Samba off, Adomah on. Elmo to right back, Adomah attacking right mid. Team is unbalanced.
  9. Bye Bacuna. Anything North of 500K and we're stealing money for this chopper.
  10. Was like a game of ping pong. Boys never seemed to get it under control (like always). Richehading back and forth. Nice to see the young guys play. Thought O'Hare was very lively. Bjnarson was aweful. Samba dodge. Hourihane and Onomah stayed in second gear all game. Nice to see RDL back. Jed Steer MOTM. Very unconvincing.
  11. Massively disappointing. Bjarnason is shocking. Samba (who I really like) is having a bit of a mare. Hourihane and Onomah need to get out of second gear. O'Hare looking good and Hogan just waiting for someone to understand his strength of a through ball (haven't seen one of them at Villa in a couple seasons). Fingers crossed. It would be nice to finish 3 or 4 goals ahead but in good old fashioned Villa it will be a butt clencher till the end.
  12. Johnstone 7 Hutton 8 Chester 7 Terry 8 Taylor 6 Elmo 7 Whelan 6 Bacuna 4 Lansbury 6 Gabby 7 Hogan 7 Subs 7
  13. Unbelievably frustrating. Should have been two if not three up at halftime. Bacuna was truly terrible. Up front we look light. Desperately need Kodgia back and Bacuna to never play again. Missing Adomah too imo.
  14. Most fans have been buzzing for this and then we see Bacuna in the side and we're all deflated. My only presumption to why he is playing is because his fitness stats when they train is better than Greens. Other than that I'm as confused as the rest of you. Presume Amavi is off. Would like to see Green and Onomah at some point.
  15. Interesting window so far. The issue I've had over the last handful of seasons is yes the signings have been more 'exciting' than this one but most the players have lacked serious professionalism. Terry, Johnston, Elmo and Whelan are Footballing Professionals. I think they are all very astute signings. Now time to get rid of those who are more interested in their hairstyle than working hard for AVFC!!
  16. Slightly better than Saturday… slightly!! Terry light years ahead. Samba deserves a contract. The rest were dire to be honest. Lack of creativity Andy again no goals our major problem last season. Hogan, McCormack, Gabby, Bjnardson, Green fill me with no confidence at all. Yes it's a pre season friendly but it does matter. If a Pro Golfer keeps missing 4ft putts in practice rounds he's not suddenly going to start holing them under pressure at The Open. If our forwards don't get a taste of goals and at least chances in pre season they aren't suddenly going to do it when it matters. Seriously thinking has to be done up top, or else we'll be lucky to score more than last season.
  17. I hope he has a good season but I've seen nothing to convince me that he will.
  18. Villa have been terrible. What exactly are the working on? It certainly isn't fitness (they've barely run), it certainly isn't tactics/drills (I've seen kids do drills better than this). They've had a week in Portugal, some of them came in early for pre season. Thank God 'this game doesn't matter' because this is truly horrendous. Whilst not bothered by the score I have seen very little to make me believe that bar a handful we have a very unprofessional group of players and promotion is a far off wet dream.
  19. If Villa want to push for the promotion it's really simply. Concede the same number of goals but double the amount we scored last season. Our goals per game stat for a team that was recently relegated was truly pathetic.
  20. I've watched more Aberdeen than Villa this season sadly (for once). Aberdeen have a great group of players, play exciting football, get the crowd on their feet BUT the opposition bar Celtic are terrible. I don't think any of their players would improve Villa. Hayes is excellent at Aberdeen, as is Rooney but the Championship (never mind the Prem which is where we'll hopefully be heading next season) is a MASSIVE step up. Celtic are light years ahead of Aberdeen and imho would be a mid table Championship team.
  21. Aberdeen fan here. Ryan Jack is nowhere near our level. Villa scouts were up here last season to watch him and were gone by 1/2 time. An absolute nothing midfielder.
  22. I've seen more movement at my local bus stop on a Monday morning than what these boys put in each match. Lack of closing down, lack of give and go, lack of making space for oneself. I actually don't think any of them are anywhere near fit enough for 90 minutes of football. Ive been delighted with Baker this season but last handful of games he's discovered hoof ball again which I despised him for two seasons ago. We apparently have a new midfielder called Hourihane who I don't think I've seen touch the ball in 180 minutes of football and if he has he's giving Gabby a run for his money. God created the ground and it would be nice if we could use it… if you were row A-L you'd have to book a physio appointment to get your neck looked at the ball is in the air so much. It's so incredibly frustrating… I genuinely feel bad for Tony!
  23. After what seemed like a fantastic transfer window I feel so deflated. So many hoof balls. Ball never on the ground. 20 yards between midfield and Kodjia. Narrow pitch and play 3 central midfielders. I can go on but Bruce must take the blame today! Its not about time to gel, these people are professional footballers getting paid obscene amounts of money. They couldn't even do the basics. Truly worrying. This season is finished, I already worry for next!!
  24. What if the other out is Toner? Please be McCormack!
  25. Line up for me will be: _____________Johnstone_____________ _Hutton___Chester__Baker____Amavi_ ___Hourihane_Lansbury_Bjarnason___ Adomah______________________Green _______________Kodjia______________
