AshVilla
If he can tackle and pass the ball more than 2 yards he's already an upgrade on Sylla
Shaw_nuff
Delph, herd, Cole looks a better midfield 3 than what we had most of last season. Cole, a bag of cement and Stephen Hawking look better than what we had most of last season.

Cole, a bag of cement and Stephen Hawking look better than what we had most of last season. I'd like to see you sign a bag of cement with no money. Even a midfield 3 of Herd, Delph & Westwood would (Edward Woodward would) have a lot more balance, with KEA in there I think we have too many headless chickens running around, Herd would add the required steel. rodders0223
Rose tinted glasses. He was rubbish, how old is he now, 25/26, he has barely played 50 games. Will be lucky to carve out a career in league 1 after his contract expires.

DCJonah
Sorry but if Herd is the answer then the question is wrong I think given our situation giving a player like herd a chance in an area we're weak in isn't a bad idea.
handsworthlion
I remember being at ewood park a couple of years ago while that ginger bloke was here, he played in the cdm position that day and did a superb job of breaking up play and distributed quite well, admittedly he had petrov next to him, don't think I ever really saw him play that position again, but certainly worth working on while we still have him, he may not ever make it here, or anywhere for that matter, but we have him for another year so why not. Also, there was that home game against wolves at the start of the same season and looked every inch a premier league full back.
The Fun Factory
Chris Herd represents our failed belief that our supposed great youth system would promote from within to create a decent premiership side. Herd, Bannan, Lichaji, Fonse, Baker,Albrighton- none have been good enough really. We are producing players who can have careers, but not the sort of careers we would like to see in a Villa shirt unless we want football league to watch. HanoiVillan
Cahill's pretty good, and Albrighton is clearly a Premier League player, especially for bottom half teams. Herd isn't one of our most successful products, but he's not the world's worst to call upon in an emergency. He's not good enough to keep beyond the end of this contract, but what do you expect? He isn't going to be starting every week. Edited July 3, 2014 by HanoiVillan

It is a hell of a lot more than other youth teams have produced in that time tbf.
Zhan_Zhuang
Always liked Herd and hope he has a renewed enthusiasm for this season because he can be an asset if given the chance. Again this midfield dilemma is a thing Keane can work on and improve on. Edited July 3, 2014 by Zhan_Zhuang
