Have we learned nothing over the past few weeks? Short term'ism will get you nowhere. We should be saving money and developing our youngsters, not paying over aged journeyman players. Of course he can do a job for us but we want more than that. We need to rebuild our cub with youth and pace.

Not sure how he's a journeyman, he's been with us since 2011.

It sounds like we have saved money, if he's taken a significant pay cut. "Rebuilding with youth and pace" is a nice idea, but in my eyes so is keeping some of the players that got us 4th last year. What youngster were you hoping to develop and start at left back next season anyway?

By all accounts he has a good attitude and he's a useful squad player being able to cover both flanks.

The more interesting thing is who is agreeing this contract? Bruce? Xia? Wyness ?

How can you accuse Hutton of journemen? He's been with us since 2011 and shows more passion for Villa than most players.

But....but...but....all the journalists said their "sources" said he was going to Forest.  I don't understand.  Were they just making it up?

Those years in the bomb squad.  Not one complaint, not one story in the press.  Not one tweet.

Got on with his career, went out on multiple loans, and gradually worked his way back into the team.  OK circumstances may have played their part but his ability and attitude undeniably got him to where he was last season and the affection which Villa fans clearly have for him.

We loaned him out twice since he's been with us. Average at best.

Turning into a club legend.

Bizzarely.

Yes its a great story though isn't ? - Not liked because he was signed by Mccleish and had a poor start to villa career, the completley frozen out because he earnt to much - Finally get his chance and goes on to become a cult hero

Loved his interview, brought a lump to my throat. He obviously loves the Villa and I .love him for that - legend. This news also tells us things aren't so bad and of course Bruce is staying. All in all a good day at last!

Excellent news and a good statement to other players who may be thinking of leaving.

Maybe things aren't quite as bad as we've chosen to believe.

Fixed that for you.

He is a good player, especially like others when he is on form.

They all make mistakes.....the best of them.

its rare at this level to have players that tick every box.....Alan has his faults, like them all.

good news that.

So we have found a bit of money to hold onto one of our players. Some positive news instead of the negative stuff that has been throw at us since the playoffs. John Terry, Snodders, Jack, Hourihane, Lansbury and Chester are among those that have reacted positively to the news according to The Birmingham Mail.

There are going to be plenty of slots for youngsters - you need to have a bit of experience round the place as well to balance things.
