Rich_D Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Hutton attracting interestVilla and Everton thought to be chasing Spurs right-back Skysports.com understands Aston Villa and Everton are lining up moves for Tottenham defender Alan Hutton. The Scotland international has not been included in the Spurs squad for their last few games amid reports of a bust-up after the FA Cup defeat at Fulham.Hutton's lack of action has fuelled speculation over his future and Villa and Everton are thought to be long-term admirers. Both clubs will be looking to bolster their squads in the summer and right-back is an area they could be targeting.Hutton has been at Tottenham since January 2008 and had a spell on loan with Sunderlandlast season. He had appeared to be establishing himself as the first-choice right-back at White Hart Lane earlier this season before falling out of favour more recently.Harry Redknapp has a wealth of defensive options when everybody is fit, while Kyle Walker could also come into contention for a right-back berth next term after earning rave reviews for his performances during his current loan spell with Villa. http://www.skysports...6786450,00.htmlAny one take Hutton instead of Walker?
dudevillaisnice Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Hutton is good imo, will be a good signing if so.. however I would take Kyle Walker if given the choice.
ChrisNichollsToe Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Sounds like lazy journalism to me. Somebody putting one and one together, and getting a hundred and two.
jonno_2004 Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Probably the best 'available' right back out there.
billy_loes Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 He's trouble and thats why they want him gone. Does Walker have recall on him?
Ginko Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 I don't think you can recall players from loans if the team you loaned them out to are in the same league as you, so he'll be here until the end of the season I should think. I'm in two minds about Hutton though. I think he's better defensively than Walker but that may just be that he has a bit more experience. Hutton's pretty good going forward too and he can cross, something that I haven't seen much from Walker, I do like the lad though and I wouldn't be against him staying if we had the option. If 'arry is planning on getting rid of Hutton though, he's either got another RB in mind to buy or he's been impressed with Walker's performances in the Prem so far, if he wants Walker back not much we can do about it really. Hutton might be a pretty decent alternative. I'd like to know about this bust-up however, if he's a bit of a cock then he might be trouble and we all know how GH feels about bad eggs.
dbsboots Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 He can only be recalled if there is a clause in the contract stating that.
Houlston Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Walker cant be recalled, either Kendrick or Abraham confirmed that a few weeks back.
LondonLax Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Premier league loans can only happen in the windows. Walker has to stay until the summer.
jonno_2004 Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 I always find it funny when Everton are linked.. what are they going to pay with? Peanuts?
Houlston Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 I always find it funny when Everton are linked.. what are they going to pay with? Peanuts? Arteta is Spanish for peanuts
leevilla Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 id much rather sign Walker on a long term contract than sign Hutton,he wouldnt be a bad signing though if they wont sell Walker!
PompeyVillan Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Walker is the better player, but we could do worse than Hutton. I can see Spurs selling a right back in the summer, although I suspect it will be Corluka, not Hutton or Walker.
Mantis Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 We've got no chance of keeping Walker, have we?
barry'sboots Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 They have four right backs - Hutton, Corluka, Walker and Naughton - the latter two of which are out on loan. I don't think that Walker or Naughton will want to go back and be third or fourth choice so he is probably going to have to sell two of the four or sell one and leave one of the younger ones out on loan. I would look to pick up one of the two younger, although I haven't seen that much of Naughton so I am going more by reputation than actual viewings.
Daholteend Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Walker is the better player, but we could do worse than Hutton. I can see Spurs selling a right back in the summer, although I suspect it will be Corluka, not Hutton or Walker. If Corluka were to be made available I would be surprised. I prefer him over Hutton, while Walker would be the best choice for us. Nobody around WHL is expecting Walker to be sold. That said, all three are good players and when Walker returns to WHL, Hutton or Corluka would both be good choices if Mr H can't find a RB in La Ligue that is. On the other hand we still have Lichaj to consider. His experience at Leeds might very well return us another very promising RB.
