Fabian Delph

Guys.

**** HIM.

We have lost much better players, even in recent times: Milner, Young, Downing, who all offered more in an attacking sense.

Barry was a huge loss, and Delph isn't half the player he is.

I posted in the Townsend thread that if it wasn't for the poor amount of players for England, he wouldn't be getting caps. It is the same for Delph.

Good, but never great.

ONWARDS!!!

For me, it isn't solely the quality of Delph that makes this such a huge loss, but the fact with Benteke gone, Delph is head and shoulder's the best in a very average squad. When all those players left, there were always others still at the club with a high level of quality to soften the blow. Another part for me was that I bought into his bullsh*t loyalty and I loved him for it. I was excited to see him play with Gueye and was excited with the players we were linked with by the incoming Benteke money.

Now I feel like there is an immense amount of pressure to get those players in and deals like Amavi dragging on make me nervous. Sherwood has a hell of a lot to do, I'd say we need 4 to 5 players in now and bedding that many new ones quickly often doesn't work.

Southampton lost their complete spine last season and came back much stronger. They might be good players, but they are also players who were part of a team which was almost relegated on three occasions.

I didn't understand the hate when it looked like he was leaving and i don't understand it now.

He did us a favour signing a contract in January, it showed he was fully committed to getting us out of the shit we were and he certainly more than played his part in keeping the club up. Along the way he nearly got the club to the FA Cup final with key goals against Lpool and WBA and has now pocketed the club 8 million quid along the way which he didn't have to do.

Good luck to him, he deserves the chance to challenge for the title and ultimately to progress his career.

Go back to October time and a shitload of villa fans were saying he was shit anyway, they were allowed a u-turn so i dont begrudge him one.

Things change over a week with what comes out of his wee pie hole

I hope Villa refund all the people who bought shirts with the word removed's name on the back.

Then send the cockwomble the bill

My biggest issue is, I can't even use the FA Cup semi highlights as my "happy place" video, to cheer me up. It'll have to be porn then, I suppose.

Southampton still had some truly excellent players left though and hadn't finished as low as we had.

But it will take less for us to improve. We are losing two (one already replaced) they lost four players, I think? And we have a good team of scouts to help us now.

Yes, but ever since all three left, we have gone downhill rapidly. We're now losing our best two players, next year has a sense of inevitability IMO.

We're in a better place when it comes to replacing them though. We have people on board who can find better players IMO. Even when it comes to replacing Benteke, I think we will find somebody who fits the team and doesn't have to suit a certain system.

I'm a negative nilly on here, but I have faith.

Because he went out publically stating he was staying, he loved the club and looks forward to captaining us next season.

To publicy say what he did, then make a complete turn around less then a week is very disrespectfull to the fans and anyone else related to this club.

He basically flipped us off. He should have just shut his mouth and kept his head down untill he could make up is his mind.

I highly rate him as player, however I'm confident that he can be replaced.

Break a leg Fabian, break a leg.

True, I just feel there a lot of pressure to get in our top targets now. Things like Amavi dragging don't fill me with confidence.

I don't think it's money that's tempted him. He's definitely getting paid well, but he can either spend his season in another depressing relegation scrap, carrying the team on his shoulders, or he can swan off and be a bit part player in the best team in the world, with their class making him look even better than he is, and his England spot now guaranteed because he's in the squad for a big club.

If he'd left last week, i'd be disappointed but i'd understand.

To make a statement committing yourself and then leave a week later is one of the most treacherous things i've seen in football. It's mind boggling. I posted a lot about being shitty about Delph leaving the first time and about being shitty about Benteke leaving, but i've turned the cricket off when we're absolutely dominating to refresh this thread and embrace the hate. What an absolute word removed of a thing to do to your club and fans.
