May-Z
I thought Delph was good. You could tell he wasn't quite there but he was always looking for a forward pass. When Heskey was on, there were a number of occassions where he found him with a cute, zippy pass and then got the return. The main problem our midfielders have is finding a forward ball, because of the little/incorrect movement. With Heskey, the movement was there and Delph managed to utilise it. I thought he was promising, bar the one too many diagonal "James Collins" passes.
steve-67
I agree with May-Z. Good post. We still lack that box to box midfielder as well, someone who latches on to the forwards like David Platt used to. Our movement was poor today. Brumstopdogs
Delph was mediorce today but I think, given his time out, we can let him off. Might have been kinder for Houllier to play him with someone other than Hogg! Then again Houllier seems to be keen on these tactical blunders. beasley14
One game too early for me but he did ok in the main. Wasn't really helped by his team mates. I would have liked one of our cm's to burst past the strikers especially after Defoe was sent off to create the extra man but there you go. AVFC-Prideofbrum
Lack of movement doesn't help him, he'd of played better if Ash Young had been playing because he'd of had that option moving around and buzzing about. Wasn't poor and got better as the game went on but yeah, game too early. Although suppose he needed game time at some time.
chappy
Thought he looked good tonight actually. Nice for him to get some game time too.
Brumerican
I'm royally **** off with all things football to be honest but I saw enough tonight to have hope for the future. This kid will be a player. Wasn't amazing but it's certainly in him.
CrackpotForeigner
Bringing on Bannan, not Pires, for Delph was the way to go with (and probably without) hindsight. Other than that I agree he was decent enough, and outstanding when you take his year-long absence into account.

He needs to bulk up a bit but that will come with age - as a CM, you can't let yourself be bullied and that's what Palacios did to him a few times. Delph's strength is his passing though - he can really pick one.

PauloBarnesi
The one positive for me in the game. Considering he hasn't played for a year he looked like a player with a BIG future. Obviously you didn’t see the Young American lad at right back
briny_ear
Not really the game to bring him back IMO. If you've got NRC and Petrov available against Spurs, you play them, don't you?

Zatman
He looked ok. Nice few passes but he did tire towards the end. Ridiculous yellow card as well but another for his collection

Jon
Thought he did pretty well last night, in his first game back after a career threatening injury. A welcome return. Didn't help him having to play next to Boss Hogg though. That guy's clearly out of his depth.
hawkinsk11
I thought he did well, but starting!? what kind of a joke manager do we have? surely he should have been brought on as a sub first.

If you would bring him back against either of them teams then why not Spurs? He isn't going to be match fit until he starts playing matches, doesn't really matter when he played they're all hard games.
