The fact I've started my 2 weeks annual leave today, got a date on Friday and both the new HIM album and deadly premonition directors cut arrived through my letterbox this morning.

Stating the obvious this morning, but that Villa performance last night.

I normally start my working day with a sense of gloom and despondency at the prospect of all the annoying f*ckwits I can expect to be dealing with during the day; but this morning, nothing can wipe the smile off my face. The f*ckwits are still up to their usual, but they aren't bothering me at all.

And the sun is shining.

Our glorious and wonderful NHS. It gets a lot of stick but as a very infrequent visitor to medical establishments, I can't get over how great a service I've just had. I was steeling myself for lots of waiting around only to fail to get a diagnosis. Instead I was seen by a specialist at the time arranged, was sent for an x-ray and within 20 minutes I was back in front of the prof who gave me a very clear explanation of the problem, the causes and potential ways to alleviate the symptoms. He even spent 10 minutes on the old interweb showing me stuff that would help.

The one thing that was the slight dampener on the experience was the diagnosis of arthritis due to my I feasibly long metatarsals.

Played football today for the first time in 4 years... Played us vets v the current team and we managed to hold them to a 0-0

Body suffering a bit but boy did it feel great playing Centre Back again ... I've lost some ( make that a lot) of my pace but the old back line still worked as a unit and we defended as if we were 20 years younger

No thoughts of a comeback but still got a great buzz from it ....

ahh I do envy you.

Tried a game of 5 a side a couple of months back, lasted about 10 minutes on adrenalin and then realised somebody had set fire to my lungs.
