The RJW63 Official Jack Grealish Appreciation Thread

When they say we have replacements lined up what does that mean? Any player we fancy will now have an additional 10-20 million added to the fee.

Absolutely critical we don't faff about and bring in several high quality players to add to the squad. We cannot replace jack directly but need to build a good squad to compete next season.

Cheez feel a bit sick writing this. City gutting our team yet again.

I think fans that think we bend over and lose best players too easily are missing the point. Grealish is a special talent and needs to be playing at the highest level. United the richest club in the world at the time had to sell Ronaldo to Real. These things happen.

What’s more important is how we reinvest that money. We really have to spend every penny on top of what we already had planned to spend to build a solid squad.  Spurs lost Bale and then built a top 6 squad. We need to do the same.

There's a massive difference in Grealish going to Citeh and Ronaldo going to Real though. Ronaldo dreamed of playing for Real. The second they came calling he was off.

True but let’s face it, City are now the new Real. As much as we hate to see it it’s the best  move a player can now achieve in his career.

This isn't the same though though because Man Utd were established as the richest club in the world could actually go out and buy anyone they wanted to replace him. They had CL football to offer and a squad that would continue to challenge for the title with or without him.

We can't replace Jack with proven quality because we won't get proven quality without massively overpaying in both transfer fees and wages.

£100mil will not come close to covering it. This is a significant blow to our short to medium term ambition.

New bits specifically on Jack from Percys article below. Basically says he's gone. The bit about the new contract was in the old version of the article.

A move in the next few days impending, medical next week. Negotiations expected to be quick. ****. Ouch this hurts.

Interesting which parts of that passage are definitive statements and which ones are speculative. Only things he's certain of is that his agents were contacted today and Villa have offered him a new contract. Everything else is "expected" or "likely".

Percy still hasn't said we've accepted the bid, but he's going for a medical.

This transfer is weird.

I'm so confused by it all too. I still can't figure out where he would've gotten the medical info from when in his article he states neither city, villa or Grealishs agents are talking to him.

Percy doesn't mess about like that though. The 'declined to comment's gives it away. It's as good as done he just can't double source it to say as such.

Spurs got to CL final with the bale money.  Time to move on.  Take the 100m and invest wisely and wish Grealish the best of luck as he deserves it.

They got to the CL final 6 years after he left. Only 1 player signed with that 100m played that day, with another on the bench.

Were they already in Europe though?

Depends. What was their revenue last season? Plus they already have 90m incoming with sales. They spent big before FFP and now can keep selling to buy.

I suppose when they value their youth players playing for the mighty Lincoln City at £10m and some teams are stupid enough to pay, theyll make up the shortfall easily.

This is all about hype. Hype about Pep. Hype about Citeh. Hype about CL. By being near that club, nobodies can pretend to be somebodies. And into the orbit of this BS is Jack: a once in a generation player.

Isn’t modern football shite?

Who do you think who’s top quality would join us if Grealish goes?

Plus if you believe that we’ve been selling our ambition to prospective targets based on him staying, we will have already effectively lied to Buendia to get him here. Wonder if he’s ‘bought into’ our plan now?

well he wouldn't have come if he knew grealish was going

So excited to find out we're in Suarez/Arsenal situation. Club/NSWE and Jack/Agents views on the contract and Release Clause differ.

He's off for a medical as believes the clause has been triggered and we're stood there with our dick in our hands trying to prove the clause doesn't exist.

(Obviously I don't think this is actually the case but can you imagine 😨)
