Pretty predictable.

City didn't need him and he is still burning the candle at both ends.

I wouldn't be surprised if he is just a bit player at the World Cup as Southgate doesn't trust him in the first place.

Grass isn't always greener Jack despite what ever vision your agent span you.

The money was certainly greener.

Smith was the perfect blend of father figure/manager for Jack - knew when to pick him up and how to make him feel like the best player in the world - the team built around him, hanging on his pulled down socks.

Got the best form of his career out of him too.

Looks like he's going to need another freak injury to get his head back on straight. You're 26 years old dude, fix up!

I've no doubt he's going to have a few medals, but I'm certain he'll look back on his playing days wondering what might have been if he kept his head down and worked harder.

Imagine him with Ronaldo's professionalism and work ethic?

I think it'll click for him if he gets his head screwed on. He'll light it up for City as he did for us and be well worth the money and medals.

If he doesn't though he'll be shipped out and maybe end up regretting some of his prime years.

He is 26 though its not like he is 20 year old youngste breaking through. Foden will get back in the good books quicker for that reason

I was sick to my stomach when he left, but understood it to a degree. Jack, lighting it up as a world class footballer on the european and international stage.

I hope it comes true for him because I've learned to live with that scenario. I'm at peace with it after the turmoil of that gutwrenching summer.

Imagine though, he floos and after a couple of years he's playing his football at everton, newcastle, west ham etc.

What a **** waste

He needs to be careful. Guardiola will bomb him out if he thinks he is a bad influence on Foden.

Again its not the worst thing in the world he has done , but its just immaturity to go out on the town with covid rife. And he is now 26 and still not maturing .

He will most probably win medals while he is in the squad but his teammates will be winning the football matches.

Imagine bombing out a 100 million signing. I am sorry the manager should be sacked for buying that player

I dont think it was a Guardiola signing. It was a brand signing. Following on from him gradually becoming box office over the season . Obviously he will have given the goahead as why not have another talented player but they lack well behind in the popularity stakes and he was the one to get national and international interest.

Quite possible we look back in 10 years time and realise that grealish’s world class level was largely a part of the managerial environment created by Smith who, somehow, seemed to know exactly how to get the best out of him. Simultaneously made him feel like the best player in the world while also pushing him/encouraging his drive and ambition.

all the evidence suggests that other managers he’s played for can’t do the same. He never reached the heights at villa before smith; has never looked as good for England; and has dropped off massively under pep

Alan Ball had a similar relationship with Le Tissier and to some extent with Kinkladze at City, and that’s arguably when they both shone brightest.

These off the cuff players usually respond best to positive man managers who let them do their thing.

I’m sure there are elite managers in world football who could get a tune out of Jack, but Pep isn’t a natural fit. He’ll do okay there I think, just because he’s so talented, and they use their whole squad, but he’d have enjoyed it much more at a different club under a different type of manager. (And frankly, if he’d stayed here, he’d probably still be performing well for Smith.)
