When you're eating bread with soup, do you butter the bread?

Currently a heated debate in a whatsapp group I'm in.

I don't but then again I don't have butter on sandwiches!

Buttered toast is best with soup, IMO.

True story: I once bumped into Tony Perkins in our local fish and chip shop.

In lieu of any Pyscho/fish related puns*, any idea what his order was?

*I was going to ask if Alfred Haddock also made a cameo appearance but thought better of it.

No butter on bread with soup no.

Unless it's chicken soup, in which case you'd be dipping a well buttered white bread cheese sandwich in the soup for best results.

I haven't lived in Brum for over 15 years.

Does anyone have any suggestions for parking at the Barclaycard Arena/NIA on a Tuesday evening?

Does it get gridlocked around the arena at closing?

I'll be heading South out of the city afterwards.

My answer here is genuinely 'either or'. Doesn't matter.

iirc, haddock and chips, but it was a long time ago - 1984. We'd just moved into our first house, and - as it transpired - Perkins was staying just up the road, while filming a Yorkshire TV miniseries called The Glory Boys. Slightly surreal experience.

personally pretty much whenever i park in brum i park at the NCP at 5 ways (down by cineworld) and walk because its cheap and im tight, easy to get in and out of and you can either get straight on to the hagley road or be on the bristol road in 2 minutes

Thanks for the advice. How long does it take to walk from there to the NIA?

If it's a Tuesday night and it's not a really big event at the arena then I'd just park at the Brindley Place car park.

I parked there a few Friday nights back though when Micky Flanagan was there and we had to queue for 30 minutes just to pay for the parking.

A walk up to five ways probably isn't a bad shout. There's the Broadway Plaza car park too, under the Odeon.

Quote from the BBC story on Rock AM terror alert

Good work, the BBC.

Yes, yes and thrice yes. What's wrong with people?

Buttered bread 'in' soup - no

Buttered bread 'with' soup - acceptable

If it were me I'd park in Brindley Place.

5 minute walk to the NIA from there. It will be busy when you leave to be fair, but shouldn't be a nightmare.
