General,

How do you feel about the current debate in the US over healthcare? Where do you stand on the issue and how do you feel about the blatantly deceptive image that certain opponents of reform have used to portray the NHS in this country, and the entirely fantastical notion of a 'death panel'?

Thanks again for all your sterling work for this football club.

Patrick

General, i'd also like to echo the sentiment regarding our marketing, I live in the Middle East (Qatar) and there is not one Villa top to be spotted anywhere, in the Nike shops or anywhere else. Where as this is slightly understandable due to my location, what isn't is that on several occasions I have requested people to find me some in London and once again they are no where to be found. Nor in Asia, and even in locations in the states such as New york and Houston.

General, I don't know if this issue has been discussed much on here, but I noticed these in the Matchday thread:

So i guess 2nd half we were good too right? I saw the first half and I was just smiling all the time as I felt it was going really well, great performance.

My mate got kicked out of the ground just on half time for standing up, I didnt want to leave him waiting outside on his own for the coach so went out and thought I would see it on TV in a pub but noooo.

Was a great day out and fantastic to see a hammering being dished out from our boys.

That happened to me and my mates against Pompey. We got kicked out by about 30 stewards and coppers for the crime of standing up on a back row in the lower Witton Lane, rebels eh!? No wonder the atmosphere is shit.

Obviously we don't know the circumstances, but I hope the stewards are not being heavy-handed.

Nothing spoils the enjoyment of something more than being at the mercy of officious busybodies, whether they're poorly-recruited nightclub bouncers, poorly-recruited policemen or poorly-recruited match stewards.

I know that if I were kicked out of the stadium for anything but actual antisocial behaviour, it would leave a very bad taste, and I probably wouldn't be back for quite a while. Why should people face a scolding when they pay to watch the team they support?

I stress that I don't know anything about the circumstances mentioned in these posts, but clearly people are feeling aggrieved. Seeing as the stewards are the public face of the club on matchdays, I hope Aston Villa are doing everything they can to employ stewards who try to send everyone home happy (rather than just throw their own weight around).

I also witnessed a very over the top steward in the holte end upper. At half time a number of stewards were trying to escort a chap out of the stand. I dont know the reasons but this chap wasnt being aggressive and just trying to find out why he was being kicked out. One steward then grabbed him by the neck and threw him out the door. The actions of this guy were so over the top it caused a number of people to come up and have a go at this steward. He definately made the matter much worse.

General Krulak here:

1. A very nice game to watch on the telly. 38,000+ fans made a HUGE amount of noise and obviously helped fire up the lads. Some solid play all around. Cuellar is quietly imposing himself in a significant way...lots of contenders for MOTM.

Isnt it just amazing what we can do when we play players in there correct positions sir!.. :D

General Krulak here:

1. If you can give me the stand location of the stewards, I will check into the issue. Last year we had problems with stewards not taking action when they should...we may have gone too far now. Help me out by focusing my efforts by giving me a location.

2. Obviously I can't comment on Squad make-up. I can just see it now...the Birmingham Mail saying that "General Krulak provides suggestions to MON." BURP!!! I trust that Martin will do what he feels is right. There is no question that our lads played an inspired game on Saturday...and I like the fact that MON made NRC the Captain...a very nice touch.

Hey Gen

First time posting here but as a fan from Asia (needless to say I've never had the honor of seeing Villa Park with my own eyes :( ) I just wanna ask if the club are doing anything to increase its presence beyond Europe?

General,

My housemate is at University doing a business course and he wants to do a year in industry, marketing I think, he's a huge football fan so he has gone about trying to apply to do it at Aston Villa. I was wondering if you had any number or contacts of anyone whom he could e-mail or speak to directly about doing something with the club for his placement year?

I think Birmingham City and West Brom offer something like it, but let's be honest, who wants to work for those chumps?

General something i see alot of people have been talking about over the internet and in person. Is the lack of farewell for Juan Pablo Angel, I think most people loved the guy and sort of felt he could have been a real legend had he had the midfield supply in his early villa career.

I know this isn't your job but would it be possible to try to work out a friendly game with The Bulls so fans could show Angel the love the guy deserves!

Wouldn't be bad PR for Villa in the US either :)

General,

I've noticed a news story where MoN has said he'd welcome Rangers and Celtic to join the Premier League. Obviously, it may have been light hearted, but in the context of the talk about a two-tiered Premier League - an utterly farcical idea - I would hope that as a club, we wouldn't seriously countenance simply allowing two sides to get a gimme into the league system, certainly not at the expense of other clubs seeking promotion. It may very well be, and I suspect it is, just a load of talk with very little substance to it, but I would like to think Randy would be dead against a move such as this. Innovation is all well and good, but any such proposal to effectively secede entirely from the football pyramid either through this suggestion or any other method - ie a superleague of any sorts - would I think be met with dismay and disllusionment by a large number of fans, myself included. Perhaps I would be in the minority, but my general feeling is that I am not. I hope that in any vote or discussion with the clubs, the sentiments of fans are properly considered.

Like I said before mind, I do suspect it probably is just talk, but just in case...

agree with rodders comment and i think the overwhelming majority of Villa fans would like to keep the premier league as it is and I certainly don't some violent racist scots coming into the English Premier League and destroying everybody's grounds

Just to add my view to the Celtic/Rangers debate. I feel very strongly about this and cannot see what would be gained by allowing them to join other than money. Greed has slowly strangled our game over the last 20 years and if these plans were to go ahead I feel it would be another nail in the coffin of our beloved game. In addition it also pains me to see our manager apparently supporting the idea and wondered what the club's view is on the proposal. I the only benefactors I can see are Rangers/Celtic and perhaps the teams that are allowed to cling on to their premiership status. Quite why we feel the need to help them is beyond me. As far as I'm concerned they should be concentrating their efforts on improving their league.

Would it be possible for you to air yours/the club's views?

Hiya General

In 1994 Villa won the Coca-Cola Cup (as I'm sure you're aware). On the way to the final they beat Tranmere Rovers in the semi final. The second leg of that semi final was most certainly the best game of football I have ever seen (although admittedly I'm biased) and I would be more than happy to pay money to watch it again. I'm sure I'm not the only person that would so what are the chances of getting the game released on DVD in the club shop? If it's not possible to release the entire match, at the time there was a video released showing highlights of all the games leading up to the final and then the whole final afterwards - maybe the club could look into re-releasing that video as a DVD?
