  1. A thought entered my head today reading all the talk of bringing in henry etc... We all want Eck gone, I don't know of one person who thought it was a good idea to appoint him or who thinks he should stay (Bar Media Pundits) But if we have a wage cap at 40k, we have no money to spend, When we get rid of Eck who's coming in? Are we really going to get a quality manager? Any manager is better than Eck lol i'm not arguing that. But I want to know how we're going to get someone that really believes they can push the job forward. As MON said a few times if i didn't believe we could do it then I wouldn't be here. Alex seems to think we're not the team we used to be and by saying so deflating the team. Maybe i'm ranting now but... Who's going to be able to turn us round? without investment? Does the players out of contract have a significant impact on cash flow for the club? Bit lost but i'm fearing we're gonna be stuck with AM!!! Please let it not be true!
  2. Hey General, 1st off thank you for taking the time out of your day, to address the board with a statement. With a level head. It's refreshing to see someone come out when the S**t is flying and just state something so simple to calm a situation! 100% WELL DONE ON THAT! MORE RESPECT THAN EVER TO YOU! Also I was a MON supporter but always an Aston Villa supporter 1st, Just like milner wanting to go if Martin wants to go so be it. No point keeping someone at the club who doesn't want to be there! I also believe Randy has been more than generous with his money, I have no doubt in what he's doing with the club! I CAN SEE IT PROGRESSING! this hasn't changed! It's not a setback its a stalling point. It's also the opportunity to take stock and reassess the situation, reload and come out fighting! Keep up the good work Gen! Pass my support onto randy! Up the Villa!
  3. I think he's gone, Obviously a player understands as we do, what's happening around the club and reads the papers or gets txts etc... We all know, he knows whats happening, and how if you want to stay at a club to deal with the situation. He has made it perfectly clear that he think's he'll be at a different club next year. I've nothing against that either, its a career. If he wants to win the league I would have no problem with him going to Chelsea, United or Arsenal. Any other club NO! I would loose respect for him if he went to city, but to be honest if a club wanted me that much and would pay the money and give me massive wages and i didn't support the team i played for. I'd go! Thats just the truth. Disappointed in his statement, its basically saying come and get me. Hopefully that works out well for villa!
  4. General, Can I thank you very much, and echo what VillaGoMarching says, Your presence on the site really helps us understand whats happening and avoid believing the stupid media attention we seem to have attracted this season, due to hype and success. Please Pass on to Martin and Randy that this has been the best year of watching the team in a long time, Really enjoyed the season, very few lost matches which considering the quality in the league fantastic. Proud to wear claret and blue again, thanks to the team throughout the whole club for enhancing the villa experience. Bring on tomorrow!!!
  5. Thanks General, I come from a musical background and play with a number of bands and groups, The reason I brought the topic up was simple. If negativity gets into a group or the awareness that the crowd aren't behind you or are turning on you. Things quickly seem to fall apart. What the club Needs now which you have constantly stated is support from fans, Its of my view that the villa faithful + the villa not so faithful don't recognise that a crowd really do control quite alot in terms of how the team progress, obviously there needs to be natural talent (which we have) but having a constantly supporting crowd cheering on our team, is how we'll push further. We need to make Villa Park a much more intimidating place for other teams to play at. My I suggest thinking through some sort of activities for really really getting the crowd up, (We lack what Celtic & Ireland & Liverpool have decibel wise)
  6. I think this post should be kept even though it's not a question as things can look very one sided in here otherwise! General If you look at a post I made about the refund situation you'll see that all Aston Villa fans arn't fickle! I was surprised at the response to the thread being so positive, and that's a very bad sign I think. I would like to again give my support to Randy, MON and yourself it's so obvious to see we're developing as a team. We're not competing for the league atm, But we've been competing for 2 cups this year! Which has been very exciting!!!!! People forget quickly that under other managers, the feelings they're having now after such a defeat, are feelings we had every week or at least when playing the Top 4 teams each season, we've progressed of course its of my opinion we need a prolific striker but that's just MY OPINON, Randy has placed MON in charge of the club and so I trust MON! Maybe I will make this a question! General do you see that all Villa fans aren't in disgust? there's defiantly a hint of frustration but that actually comes from us all knowing, that the team can do so much more! The thing is THIS team can do so much more, and I wish people would realise this a bit more! Pete
  7. Gen, Just a question towards yourself seeing as we're all baring a really tough time atm with the snow! Whats the worst weather you've been in in combat i remember learning about the 101st airborne in bastogne and the snow. just wondering with yourself Cheers Pete McVeigh
  8. Pardon me but............... **** CLASSSSSSSSS...................... So happy to see us finally get that win that was deserved for years!!!
  9. General something i see alot of people have been talking about over the internet and in person. Is the lack of farewell for Juan Pablo Angel, I think most people loved the guy and sort of felt he could have been a real legend had he had the midfield supply in his early villa career. I know this isn't your job but would it be possible to try to work out a friendly game with The Bulls so fans could show Angel the love the guy deserves! Wouldn't be bad PR for Villa in the US either
  10. I was gonna come on in all honesty and say maybe young should get a rest lol and then he went and did that! hopefully he'll get a bit more confidence he really dosn't seem to be anywhere near the young last year!
  11. General, As stated before i rarely post on the board. But I would like to say, I am extremely confident in the Villa this year. I'm very proud to be a villa fan, and believe the game last night was a fantastically exciting match, which is what football is about. The Game last night is exactly the reason i watch and support a team for! The excitement of watching the game knowing it can go either way right to the end. I was on the edge of my seat and although i was disappointed I think we played extremely well as did Rapid and it was a thoroughly entertaining match. Please pass that on too MON general, It was a very entertaining game, the team played well. And i have all confidence with him this year as do many others.
  12. Hey General, It came into my head last night that you're obviously a highly decorated general, I'm sure there has been times when you've been involved in a situation where you had your own opinion's of the task at hand. (Might not have agreed with the higher decisions). How does this affect your performance and your ability to lead? I'm just considering players such as Reo C playing out of position, when they believe they should be playing in another more preferred position. Just saw on news about a guy being court marshalled for not wanting to go back to Afghanistan and I really feel for the guy, as he states they're destroying the country as apposed to helping it! I feel for the guy. I'd also love to know you're opinion or even experience in this subject? Great game last night, watched it on Goal TV, The match wasn't a great match but for a pre season friendly it was spectacular. And nice to get some pen kicks on the go always creates excitement.
  13. Hey General, I've been visiting this board for over two years now as a guest user. I have been reading your responses avidly. I constantly see you siv through ALOT of rubbish, whilst maintaining a professional yet "on the same level" approach to your replies. I've been a Villa Fan since 1990, i'm currently 24. Its finally nice to see Villa play attractive , exciting and exhilarating football without putting the club under financial woes, such as liverpool. I can do nothing but respect all of the staff at the club, from the club shop to the ticket office i have had nothing but 100% professionalism since Randy took over. Where as before I seemed to be cursed with some very bad luck ordering kits or tickets. I personally have noticed a staggering leap, and really think, the communication between the club and supporters has been enhanced. I would like to know if the official sites Forum will be back at any point? I understand in its latter days that it had been overrun by blues supporters, with so much professionalism within the club at this moment in time, I am sure the club could hire someone to create a more secure forum with a better managing system. Although I know i'm rambling, i wanted to sign up to say Thank you, for your communication, and also to wish you back to health which i see alot of other people have succeeded in doing. Also If MON has not already sold it too you, get over to Belfast for a visit. And give us all a shout for a pint! Pete McVeigh
