This is one of those games ............. First goal the winner.

Spam are very very happy to let us huff and buff. They will step out and punish us on the break in the second half.

Bring on Archer for 2nd half ? Doubt wet spam will know too much about him and I just think we need a perky, nippy and hungry striker who wants to prove a point

No point tbh if we can't get the ball to him. The problem here is the delivery.

We look a lot more solid with Luiz playing (why it's taken Gerrard so long to fathom that is another question).

Coutinho has also been decent.

It's hella dull though. We have no patterns of play going forward.

West Ham are there for the taking but can we do it?

Would love to see Buendia for McGinn if it stays like this.

McGinn and Digne are both pants, whisper it but Coutinho having a decent one if we get the ball to him, defence redundant, forwards are flies on a big window ...... 0-0 all over this !

Look in front of them, there's nothing to break into. One of the strikers off in one of the channels, the other central. And Coutinho somewhere around if lucky. None of them really excel on the break. No real width to stretch the defence, you're just running into a brick wall.

They aren’t getting out our half. I’m not suggesting they try bursting into the box, but we’ve essentially got McGinn and Coutinho vs West Ham’s entire midfield.

West Ham setup to defend and try to nick a goal from a set piece, such a poor approach. We just need Bailey or Archer on for Ings. Coutinho has been good with the ball and our most creative player…

As ever, the inclusion of McMeatball is the most obvious hindrance.

It will be an anvil around the neck of Villa as long as he's a guaranteed starter.

Agreed. He would be a handy weapon to have coming off the bench late in games. That’s where his value is to us now.

Midfield looks a lot better with luiz in.

Defensively looking ok so far but no real pressure from them. I expect them to step it up 2nd half so we have ti be ready.

I think  bailey would be perfect for this game his pace would cause them problems

Much better. Midfield looks good with Luiz in it. Helps that McGinn is having a better game.

West Ham have been pretty poor, can’t see them being as bad in the second half. Get Buendia on for Phil sooner rather than later.

Why was our goal disallowed? Couldn’t tell from the Holte.

First 30 minutes there was a plan and miles the better team so good to see for first time this season in the league. Last 15 minutes it's reverted to just endless sideways passing around midfield area. Have to say even for a Moyes team West Ham have been incredible negative, barely offered anything despite having good attackers on the pitch and constantly having 8-9 behind ball. Moyes would sign up for a point right now so in true Villa fashion we'll probably find a way to lose this.

Kamara has been really good on rare West Ham ventures over halfway line, snuffed out their attacks easily with good positioning so very annoying if we can't get the midfield structure right around him as the season goes on as there's a very good player in the making for this league.
