If they need an MRI for an ankle injury then the Achilles is the concern and that is BAD news. Fingers crossed but not feeling optimistic about this one.

If it was a ruptured Achilles they wouldn’t have stretched his leg. MRIs are also precautionary. Doesn’t necessarily mean something bad has happened. Probably a cramp that he tried playing through and became a muscle strain of sorts.

I’ve seen athletes walk off fields with torn ACLs. It’s certainly possible.

If it’s a snapped Achilles then he wouldn’t have walked off. That’s a fall in a heap injury if you try and walk.

But he walked off unassisted.  I can't believe that if the medical staff were that worried that they would have let him stand up and walk off rather than either using a stretcher or having someone support his weight whilst limping / hopping off.  Fingers crossed.

To be fair Trezeguet walked off against Liverpool and proceeded to miss however many months thereafter.

Can only hope it's a Konsa situation from the end of last season and not as bad as feared.

Steven doesn't make that quote if it's just cautionary. Sounds like it's bad and when you are talking ankles that's the bad one.

Oh FFS didn't even realise it was a suspected bad one.

New Villa signings and huge injury lay-offs within a few months: Amavi & Wesley immediately spring to mind, sure there is more.

Really hope its a false alarm the guy looks the business.

It's not.

Kevin Durant, nba basketball play snapped his achillies and walked off the court.

I had a mate do it at 5 a side and walked off to his car.

He likely had a minor tear in his acl. The issue is the surgery for both a full tear and a partial is the same and it takes the same amount of time to recover.

Is no one of the opinion that they might have exaggerated the reaction to waste time?

Yes it might have been cramp but Carlos seems like a guy who knows how the dark arts work.

No need for Gerrard to continue that after the match though
