The only man who has made me not want to go to Villa Park . To hate sitting in those stands.

I hate him and everything he did and Purslow should be asked to explain to the supporters why he gave a man not qualified for a job 6.5m a year because he knew him.

Some managerial appointments don't work out that's football but this one stunk to high heavens from the day it was announced.

We should know why tens of millions of pounds have left this club because Gerrard and his mates were given roles they weren't even remotely capable of.

Why should we know? Did you demand the same when Bruce stunk up the place? Or Di Matteo?

I agree absolutely that he made going to VP a horrendous experience, the board took a risk and it didn't work. But this talk of demanding explanations is just weird.

I know why Bruce got the job he was the obvious choice and sensible. RDM had a good CV for a Championship side both knew the league, had managed higher and had gained promotions.

I still don't know what made Gerrard qualified or a candidate in anyway

This is petty, vindictive and probably completely undeserved, but how polite and humble Emery is after humiliating United in game 1 makes me just feel like Gerrard was such an entitled bellend. His seeming lack of interest in Villa, the fans and the club and his smugness is the total opposite to a man who has won heaps of European trophies and is managing below where he deserves to be.

I really believe the Villa / Gerrard hate is and has always been mutual. So glad we can move on. Even though by posting this I’m clearly not moving on. But now I’m moving on I promise. I have the capacity to move on

Now I’m off to the Grealish thread!

As soon as the final whistle went I thought exactly the same. I was expecting Emery to come over to the Holte and lap it up. Instead he walked straight down the tunnel and let the players take the adulation. I said to my boy I’d this was Gerrard he’s be jumping into Holte.

Class and levels.

Be interesting to see if he goes back to Rangers and tries to compete against Postecloglou without the assistance of Beale.

With Beale he took 2 years to overtake the alcoholic ex Bolton, Hibernian and Omonia Nicosia manager Neil Lennon

Postecoglu would eat him alive

To be honest at the time Bruce and RDM made sense. RDM 'won the champions league', but more importantly he got baggies promoted at pretty much a canter. Bruce was the 'promotion specialist' but when he was appointed it really was the last knockings for his prehistoric football and he nearly did the job, losing the playoff final, albeit spending ridiculous sums for the championship.

Was talking to some Celtic fans today (yeah I know) who said that Rangers stayed pretty much COVID free, which helped Gerrard’s team (is this right?) and that Celtic were in a small transitional period. So it seems even his Scottish title was a fluke, if indeed, they are right.

If he wasn't such a bellend, you'd almost feel sorry for him. He got humiliated after that Fulham game by unusually having the sacking announced that same evening rather than the following day (which is what normally happens) and then Danks and now Emery have smashed nails into the coffin of whatever remained of his hopes of managing in the top flight again. He's not even managing right now and yet his stock is still tumbling.

I think thats harsh. They were undefeated that year with 102 points and only conceded 13 goals. Yes, Celtic weren't great, but it wouldn't have mattered if Celtic had beaten them the 4 times they played, they would have still romped the league. I'm not defending him but they did deserve that title. They were also top when he left to join us. How much of that was him or was Beale, who knows?!

Yeah, it's nonsense.  Didn't they have a decent European run too?
