We play Burnley twice

Yes but Liverpool is the game in hand not Burnley.

We have beaten Burnley once since promotion as well so not sure its the double banker people are expecting.

The game in hand can be any one you want. It's a numerical advantage.

Not this shit again. We have a game over the teams on 34 games.

Who gives a crap who it’s against, it’s a chance to pick up 3 points when the other teams can’t.

Burnley (h) game should have been December so that is the first game in hand. Liverpool is also a game in hand over the teams that have played 35.

Not that i'm confident against Burnley!

And that first one is against Liverpool next midweek. Of course it matters who its against, people have been banging on that these games in hand are guaranteed points when one is against probably the best team in the world

It was never in doubt. £400 Million spent and only just beat the drop

I don't know the exact figure but you're not wrong in sentiment - this was too close and a huge improvement is needed next season.

I mean it wasnt a topic this season. Our lowest league position was what, 15th?

16th.

On the 19th November 2021, with 10 points from 11 games. One place above Watford whose goal difference was just 1 goal worse than ours.

People constantly niggling on about our current position need to remember that’s where we came from.

The other games are Liverpool and Man City and you expect a point or three?

i think we'll give liverpool a game yes. if city have already won the league then we could get something.

i think we'll take at least another 7 points overall which is perfectly doable

I think Liverpool and Man City will comfortably beat us.  Teams need to be at their best to give these two teams a game at the moment and we are nowhere near that.

The problem we have is that we’ll have no possession against them to create anything.  They dominate possession against the best teams and we only had 45% possession against the poorest team in the league.

Possession doesn’t win games as yesterday proved but we aren’t going to have the ball against those teams and they always score so I can’t see anything but comfortable wins for those teams.

We have too many issues at the moment that giving those teams a game seems unlikely.

If it was my club I think I’d sack Gerrard, Purslow and Lange tonight.

I might come to regret it but I’d do it.

This “project “ horse sh1t is all a scam. Be good now or f off.

Said it after Newcastle and it still stands up. I can't see us getting 40 points this season.

Not convinced Gerrard knows what he's doing.

Just came back into the thread and these were some of the first unread posts since my last visit.

I'm not about to dig out these posters.  I think what it illustrates is the fine margins between 8th and 18th.

We've had two bad losing streaks this season and still we can finish comfortably top half.  We've apparently lost more games by one goal than anyone else in the division.  If we'd drawn even 4 of those games we'd be in good shape now.

I don't think we're far away from being a team that challenges for Europe.

Conversely, we're not far away from being in a battle.

Weird isn't it, the Premier League?

When was the last time a team went down with 40+ points?

West Ham in 2003. Nobody has  since gone down with more than 39 points
