Now I think he could well be one of our best players. He’s made me out to be a mug and Ive learned my lesson about (1) giving players time and (2) the effect shit coaching can have on a player. Hence I will back Zaniolo, Diaby and any future wavering signing to the death I don’t think that makes you a mug, he was poor it’s okay to say it. His turn around is remarkable he’s fantastic.

Delphinho123
His ability to dribble at pace, regardless of whether he beats a man is so good to watch. He used to do this a lot but lose the ball or run into the man. Now it seems he keeps possession more whilst frightening the life out of the opposition defence. A fantastic turn around. Forever yours. Delphinho.
Stephen_Evans
Zaniolo’s issues are similar to Bailey’s during his periods of poor form. Running into trouble, holding on to the ball for too long, not fitting in to the team pattern. So Bailey’s transformation gives me hope for others. birdman
One of the best dribblers in the prem and his first touch is always smooth. A joy to watch in full flow with his footwork and trickery. A defenders worst nightmare currently!
MSvillain
Best attribute for me is that he goes both ways *Kenneth Williams GIF* He can either cut in on his left and have a crack or get to the byline and pull it back, defender doesn't have a clue
foreveryoung
I think part of it is he has increased his strength, looks a bit biggerr. Big problem previous was a teenager could have probably knocked him off the ball, he looks alot stronger now,
Tom13
His bravery beating a man reminds me of Michael Owen's bravery throwing an apple into the bin by his TV.
MotoMkali
Tbf to Craig Butler he said in 3 years either Leon would take Villa to the champions league or he'd be looking for a club that was. Well right now he is taking us to the UCL.

The Jamaican was among those Villa were willing to let go last summer but he has developed into a key player this term, scoring six goals and providing five assists to help Emery's men into second, three points behind leaders Liverpool. Bailey joined Villa in 2021 for about £25million with part of the proceeds from the £100m sale of Jack Grealish to Manchester City, and signed an initial four-year deal thought to include options for extension. But so impressive has Bailey been in the autumn and winter that Villa are keen to reward him with fresh terms and elevate him closer to Villa's top bracket of earners, which includes Emi Martinez, Tyrone Mings, Moussa Diaby and Ollie Watkins. Since Emery replaced Steven Gerrard in October 2022, Villa's wage bill has increased significantly, with Mings, Watkins, Martinez, John McGinn and Ezri Konsa among the players who have had big pay rises. Bailey scored as Villa beat Burnley 3-2 in their final game of 2023, though he is likely to be among several players given a breather for Saturday's FA Cup tie at Middlesbrough. He said: 'I'm very pleased with the way things are going for me personally. I'm here to help the team as much as possible. Whenever I'm called upon, I'm here. I am used to the games coming so quickly like this. I've always been playing in both domestic competitions and in Europe. So it's tough on your body but this is what we are in the game to do.'

No way are we looking to make his salary similar to Watkins, Diaby, and Martinez. He’s played well for 3 months in 2.5 years. I’d probably take up an option for extending by a year, but don’t think he warrants a new bumper contract just yet. If he maintains current form all season then yes maybe but very early days at the moment.
tinker Posted January 4 VT Supporter Share Posted January 4 Remember his first game against Everton when he ripped them apart. Hit and miss from there on until now, he's top class. Similar to Diaby who started well and has now faded, I wonder when he will suddenly burst back into life. It does make me wonder why this happens. If you look at their performances this season, Bailey belongs with the others much more than Diaby. If Emery believes this is the real Bailey rather than a flash in the pan, sign him up. useless
It's too early to say that Diaby has faded in the same way that Bailey did, Diaby has already had a much better start than Bailey did and maintained that over a longer period of time, Diaby is already just one assist and two goals away from already getting more Premier League goals and assists than Bailey did in first two seasons. Diaby just had a few games where he wasn't as good as he was, he hasn't been underwhelming over a lengthy period of time, he was very good at the weekend other than his final finishing, but still managed to score a crucial goal
brummybloke
Bailey has done a Dougie Came in and everyone had high hopes, massively under performs and then almost out of no where, he becomes the player we thought we had bought and becomes a top contributor to the team. Dougie did regress after lockdown slightly for a while but hasn't really out a foot wrong since, long may Baileys form stay at the top. Hopefully any contract negotiations include performance based payments, just like I hope our other player contract extensions are. At least that way, if God forbid a players form digressed then we wouldn't be stuck paying 125k pw for someone either not used or not wanted. Happy for us and happy for him that he has improved so much.
