I hope other fans' blind hatred of us and Mings doesn't overshadow just how good his ball playing distribution is to start attacking moves. No other England defender does it.

His best performance so far

Unfortunately as soon as Maguire is fit he will lose his place and prob never get it back.

He has been slated for making mistakes, yet Stones and Maguire have done the same.

Everyone saying Phillips has been our best player though… hmmm. He’s made some decent challenges in an advanced position.

He plays as a defensive midfielder for his club and rarely ventures forward in an ultra attacking Leeds 4-1-4-1.

Yes, he’s been decent, but how about playing a central midfielder used to getting forward?

There are so many players that either a) shouldn’t be on the pitch, and b) are playing in the wrong position.

It’s an atrocious starting line up. Both on paper and tactically. You don’t win tournaments playing players out of position and leaving your best players on the bench.

Sterlings runs are really good, but they are basically pointless as his first touch is so poor and gives the ball back to Croatia

Yes, imagine those balls in to Jack, would be game over by now

Surprised at the positive comments, first ten minutes aside I thought it was a pretty poor performance, kind of reminded me of watching Villa when Steve Bruce was in charge, you're always hopeful because there's players on the pitch that can make things happen, but there doesn't seem to be much in the way of a gameplan or pattern to the play.

Decent first 15 slowed down a lot maybe due to the heat. Just need a flash of quality from Foden, Kane or Grealish (?!) in the second half.

Do you know that Croatia have the 11th highest average height in the world with the average male height 5ft 11.6 inches?

Your useless trivia stat of the day.

Is Modric the .6

Mings has no big game experience whatever that is. Neither do Phillips and Rice if they are talking about champions League but don't mention it for them.

Probably wouldn't mention it if it were Ben White out there instead of Mingsy either. Twunts.

We have no outlet at all. Nothing to carry the ball up the pitch. Anyone on the bench we could use?

Rice and Phillips can’t carry the ball. So there is a big gap between defence and attack.

If only we had the best ball carrier in the world in the squad.

If England are serious about winning this tournament they should be winning this game comfortably. Not sure anyone should be pleased with a fairly abject 0-0 at HT!

I don’t mind being 0-0 at half time because early in tournaments are always slow but after a lively first 15 mins it was pedestrian for the next half hour is my concern.

Sure he has. Every Villa game.

Just goes to show how 9/10 it's all media fluff and social media intensifying mistakes. How often does Stones make them?

It's a good trait to admit to your own mistakes no?
