In that case we will have to settle for Tammy ... not the end of the world and gives Jack a mate to replace Ross when he heads back to London!

Why has a large section of our fanbase seemingly decided that the only strikers in the world available/suitable for us, are Tammy or Edouard?

Now if Edouard goes to Leicester wait until the Iheanacho train starts again. Iheanacho or Tammy

Or my favourite from last summer people wanted us to spend 30 million on Origi 😂. Hopefully never hear him again

I’ve changed my summer wish list to a cheaper version...

Sosa LB Stuttgart 20m

Tuanzebe CB Man Utd 10m

Koopmeiners DCM AZ 20m

Olise Reading AM Reading 8m

Brandt AM Dortmund 22m

Edouard CF Celtic 15m

95m

Out

Taylor

Elmo

Engels

Connor

Barkley

Davis

Trez

might bring in 20m or so.

Why would we spend 20m on a left back when Targett has been sensational this season - arguably our most consistent player.  I would have thought Henry for a mooted £10m or a young up and coming talent below this level would be more viable.

I loved Axel but he is largely injured at Man U.  If Engels goes, and I'm not sure he is a bad 4th choice, would Revan work as a fourth choice?  Mings and Konsa seem pretty robust and, assuming we do not get European football, I think we could make do with what we have and prioritise other areas?

I don't know Koopmeiners but I do like the links to Berge for a similar price.  We would have a nice blend then with 6 CM'ers to choose from - Luiz, Nakamba, Sanson, SJM, Ramsey and Berge.  Obviously, more suited to a 4-3-3 with two "8"s than a 4-2-3-1.  I also don't know how far away Chukwuemeka is - he looks a talent and if Bellingham is playing for Dortmund then, if he is as good as we are told, "Chuk" might be close to our first team squad?

Olise looks decent and could cover/understudy Jack and give us decent options from the bench as a LW or ACM if we wanted to change style, although I would still chase Rashica for this from what I have seen - at circa £15m he would also be decent value.  I would love to see David Brooks come in - it doesn't look as if Bournmouth are getting up unless they get in via the play offs - on the RW and compete with Traore although I guess he would be expensive.

I would love Edouard and at 15m that would be fantastic business.  Equally, if he goes elsewhere - I can imagine Leicester/Rogers with CL being a pull - then Tammy or Toney should be targets?

If we do what I am suggesting, I would add AEG - not consistent enough for me although talented and should have resale value - and Heaton - probably wants to be a no. 1 and Steer is decent enough back up and he has value.  Kalanic will probably make his loan permanent I would imagine.

They are clearly not BUT Tammy is proven at both Villa and in the PL and Edouard has acclimatised in the UK and has considerable European experience and a good track record.  Toney from Brentford is another linked with Wet Spam and other PL clubs that would give us something different and is acclimatised to the UK but again would not come cheap.  As such, they are de-risked but, as a consequence, more expensive.  We have seen with Werner at Chelsea that strong goalscorers from overseas are no guarantee of success when brought into the PL - Mbappe and Haaland probably excepted but I can't see them at the Villa for another couple of seasons ... 😉

I do think our target at "9" will probably depend if Wes can get back and play minutes before the end of the season.  If he does and looks like a decent option we might go for more of a riskier, younger, cheaper foreign import that can be assimilated slowly into the team/squad.

But like you said in your last post, it could be huge for an American owner to have a star player in what will be their best team ever.

I think Liverpool could afford it, but probably wont.

I guess it depends what happens with Salah?  If he moves on then that should generate funds for investment.

It's always worth looking out for someone better than we currently have and that's what we need to do. 20 mill on a LB if they can be brought in and is just as good as Target I won't complain as this keeps Target fighting for his place or at most have Target for cover for new LB. Target has been known to pick up Injury's and we've been lucky I reckon he's stayed injury free for some time now. However soon as Target gets injured we currently have no one good who can fill the void and we need someone.

I think that started with the following question:

Question: Tammy for £40 million or Edouard & Balgoun for £30million?

There are many others (that I'm sure we all look forward to being linked with and being suggested as targets) and the above three might not be gettable after all. 👍

That Ryan Kent fella for Rangers is pretty decent winger, would he move though now they have champions League football. And there is also the Gerrard, Liverpool connection. His stats look decent. Could be a cheap option for the wings

I think you've got to look at Dean's record a bit here.

At Walsall he signed a few players who've previous been on loan a year or two later (Jordan Cook, Milan Lalkovic). At Brentford he got in Sawyers and Rico Henry from Walsall early on in his reign and already here we've signed Konsa, Jota and Watkins who he's worked with previously so he's certainly one of those managers who likes working with guys he's had at previous clubs.

It would not shock me at all in the summer if two of our main targets are Tuanzebe and Tammy. Both will probably be available and would certainly improve quality of squad. Axel gives us more good depth at CB and could also fill in at RB and we need more cover there as two will move on in the summer and Tammy is just a proven scorer at prem level and to make the next step we need another striker of that calibre in the squad.

If DS didn't have history of signing old players I'd agree but I'd be surprised if they aren't high on the target list as fits his methodology.

I think the wide player we sign will be someone not on radar previously so that will be the exciting link of the summer given the fawning over Rashica last summer.

I don't disagree with much of your sentiment but Targett, in his first full season as an established PL player, has looked really robust and really good - so much so that he is touted for an England call up.  I just don't see us looking to bring in a better player in this position and I'm not sure a better player would want to come and potentially sit behind Targett.

We certainly need a replacement for Taylor and much better back up at LB though!

Jamaica going in strong...want all of Antonio, Toney, Max Aarons, Demarai Gray, Kemar Roofe and Isaac Hayden to all join up for 2022 qualifying!

Indeed , potentially some very strong players in there for us.

Kalvin Phillips turned us down too a while back , understandable of course.

The likes of Antonio I don't think have any chance of England so got nothing to lose at 30.

Quite alot of players of Jamaican lineage, alot of which I had no idea.

He is not a bad player but I doubt he will be leaving Rangers.

More fool Southgate, in my opinion, but what can we expect?

RB, LB, CM, RW, CF.

That's what I think we need - we have young players in Kesler and Barry who could help in a couple of those positions, particularly Kesler because I think at RB we're looking for a back up to cash and we also have Guilbert, so I'd be putting my money into the other positions.

I'd like to see us make a massive statement signing on the RW, someone that stops defences thinking about Jack and has them worried at what's coming from both sides.

I only really know Tuanzabe. I doubt he would leave a team where he sits on the bench to play for another team where he will sit on the bench. I suppose he would move one place up the pecking order.

Fresh start somewhere he knows and the only place he has done well. He would be third choice but he has the ability to genuinely challenge for a place.

Well all the players are young except for Brandt who will be 25 in May.

Sosa is 23 an attacking full back with an assist every few games in the German league.
Olise is 19 and has been doing really well in the championship.
Brandt is 24 usually an attacking midfielder but could play as a wide forward in our system, he was a really hot player just a year or so ago way out of our league but Dortmund have brought in so many top future stars he only plays half the games now.
Edouard is someone most people know a technical and powerful forward with a good scoring record in Scotland.
Koopmeiners for me is the most important on my list he plays DCM but can play as an 8 easily too. Scores loads of goals, is a penalty taker and free kick specialist, left footed and big.
