Buendia scored for Norwich tonight, would deffo have him here. I also like the look of Gallagher at West Brom... both would be good additions I think.

Funnily enough....I too like Gallagher.....not necessarily for guaranteed first team, but for squad balance.....he never stops running.....good option for some of our games...has knack of edge of the box shooting opportunites too.

The kid must have Duracell batteries.

Gallagher has definitely looked good the couple of times I have seen him.

Think we were linked towards the end of the summer window as well.

He’s only 21 too so he has so much more potentially to give. Just depends if Chelsea would let him go.

Talk of £40 million when Arsenal were linked to Buendia.

Christ. Not sure he’s worth that much yet... I would take him for £25-30m but I would expect him to have really proved it in the PL a little more to be £40m. But to be fair that is the way prices are going, so it isn’t ludicrous.

We could go back to Marseilles and poach Florian Thauvin from them on the cheap to challenge Traore.

I felt he might arrive last summer as some whispers seemed to point to him. A very decent player, would love him here.

Agreed but its a case of he is worth more to Norwich as he is a key to promotion back to mega bucks premier league, they are under no pressure to sell due to conservative financial management, a long contract and parachute payments. Its the same with several players of that ilk: Grealish, Wilfred Zaha etc. Its a risk that you pay that much and he doesnt grow into the valuation - its like paying £50-£60m for Konza today - we woudlnt ask for less, in fact probably more as he's worth it to us because thats the cost of a replacement, but its a risk for the buyer. If he gets an England call up and becomes a regular in two years, at 25 he could be worth £80M+ but this is what the PL money has now done, you need to shop outside the division for value.

We are way ahead of schedule and the squad says as much - it needs more work for at least three more windows.

I would break the bank for first team starter: a very decent midfield general; another fast forward; and a left winger. We also need another CB and LB squad cover.

I think unless Barkley improves he wont get an offer from us at the end of the season, but would still like him at the right price as he adds a level of aspirational quality and squad depth but it would also a lift the club to a serious operator status which has a knock on effect, however if he doesnt raise his game to level we know he can deliver I just think we have too much business to do so every penny will count and the money will go elsewhere.

Just keep going to Brentford for players imo. The players there know what they get with Dean, and Brentford appears to have a knack for finding great English talent.

Rico Henry to challenge Targett seems an obvious choice from Brentford and I'll be surprised if we don't go for him.

Assuming Smith wants to return to a 4-3-3 set up when he has the playing staff, are we looking to improve on a midfield three of Luiz, SJM and Soupçon? Nakamba seems like good cover for Luiz and is probably happy to remain back up for another season or two, Sanson is a summer buy brought forward and so is part of the longer term plan. If those assumptions are correct then any new midfield signing is going to be another 8 to push for McGinn's spot?

A specialist 10 like Barkley is redundant in that formation and in the front three Jack and Ollie are clearly first choices for Dean, so another striker of quality but not someone to replace Watkins or block the progression of Louie Barry. The RF role is then the only other place to potentially spend big on a starter.

So a box-to-box midfielder, a striker, a right forward and two back-up fullbacks could be incoming this summer, with maybe only the right forward and box-to-box being 'box-office' type signings?

I agree with you ......midfield General would be my priority.

Until we get a 6'5 midfielder some people will be constantly moaning that we don't have someone to win the fictional aerial battles at the base of our midfield.

Why 6'5, who is moaning, who doesn't want other areas strengthening too, a better balanced squad is what we all want surely.

Definitely agree with @Vive_La_Villa that striker too is essential.

I obviously wasn't being literal with the 6'5.

There are rules against poster on poster. If you don't see the same thing being posted numerous times a day for years then I don't know what to say.

Yes, we all want a better balanced squad. I just think the notion that signing some big bastard suddenly means we make no defensive mistakes is laughable.

For me, signing a midfield General who can play too gives us a better midfield balance and relieves a sometimes over worked defence.

I don't think a random big bastard will bring anything to the table, completely agree with you there Sam.

I haven't kept up with this particular conversation so have probably missed something along the way, but I personally like the Idea of having an opinion, whether it differs anothers is the beauty of a place like this.

Sorry if this comes across as overreacting Sam as it is meant to be constructive in the best possible way.

Not at all, I actually got rid of my post seconds before your reply as I don't want anyone to feel targeted by me.
