I don’t think so.

Really pleased he’s doing well at Hull.

However, he wanted to play weekly and we got good money, with a buy back option.

It’s not like we’re struggling to score goals is it?!?

Definitley this

You can look at him and his performances and say its a bad decision or you can look at us and our performances and say in reality he still wouldn't play

And we haven't got Ramsey back yet

That we can only buy him back if Hull are in the same division as us isn't true, that's not what the Hull chairman said, he just said we can buy him back for £15m if we're in the same division, and then stated that that's part of the deal, in other words there is very likely be another pre-agreed buyback fee agreed should Hull not gain promotion, presumably that one would be for less.

Of course the club aren't going to agree to a scenario where we can only buy him back should Hull get promotion, Emery emphasized many times that it was important to have control over Philogene's future, so we aren't going to leave our ability to buy him back to chance, Hull chairman just being very careful with his words to paint the deal in as positive a light as possible from Hull perspective.

Iirc the reporting at the time was that it was expected to be about 10 million as the initial buy back and framing it as a 200% Profit instead of a 100% profit makes it look way better for hull.

Watched him a few times now, he’s developing nicely. If there is a buyback clause, I think he’s the most likely prospect to come back at some point.

There just has to be a buyback that doesn't include them being a PL club.

Surely

!!!!

Even if there wasn’t officially, we’d be buying him from a Championship side. They can’t afford to hold out for £40m or whatever.

To be honest assuming we have retained the control that Unai alluded to it seems like this transfer has worked out really perfectly for us.

In pre season he looked excellent in flashes and a bit on the periphery at times which is exactly what you’d expect. To have him in a team aiming for CL places would have been a risk. For us and also for him with the development game time he’d be losing (see Duran).

He’s doing really well in Championship and it looks like if we did bring him back we’d be getting a very different player.

Win - win.

Got to be up there with one of the best attackers in the league? 4 assists and 3 goals in 9 games, that’s pretty good for someone who came to the game late and is in his first proper, settled season at one club with no loan shenanigans. Obviously he is gonna pump those numbers up big time in the coming weeks, with West Brom, Huddersfield, Swansea and Rotherham coming up

Essentially Zaniolo took his spot.  We went for experience over youth. Hope we don't come to regret it.

He wanted to leave to play regular first team football we even registered him for our europa conference squad. I don’t blame him leaving it’s better for his development. Hopefully we buy him back one day.
