Maybe it is something else he is not getting and he may be a little frustrated. This is where we miss JT, he could bring Ollie out for a few drinks and a bit of fun

Has the wife closed up shop since the new arrival?

He's become the new El Ghazi on here. He was perfectly decent, held the ball up well. Didn't get much at goal, but ran channels well, a good cut back too.

A lot of criticism is undeserved, Ings doesn't offer half as much to the team.

Couldn’t agree more.He was OK yesterday,we look a much better team with him upfront alone.

He offers so much more than Ings. Are we creating lots of chances for him ?No

Wesley shit,Davis shit Kodja shit Ings a bit shit Watkins was good now shit .Villatalk seems to specialise in making a striker our go to scapegoat.

Not sure I agree, it’s not all about pace.  Intelligent movement and positioning can give you that one yard extra step and the likes of Buendia and Coutinho will find that intelligent movement and Ings has the finishing abilities that one second is enough for him to strike.

Its also not as if Ollie has blinding pace that gets past defenders.  His movement this season has been poor, his decision making has been poor and his finishing has been poor when he’s had chances.  So even if he has that extra pace he’s not doing anything with it unfortunately.  I want the old Ollie back but I’m worried that after half a season where he’s gone.

While both strikers are off form, naturally Ings style suits Buendia and Coutinho’s game.  Ollie had a chance today so now Ings should get a chance given Ollie didn’t convince he deserved it in the next game as you can see from all the comments on this board.

Also when Ings was injured Gerrard was praising Ings massively and said he couldn’t wait for him to be back and Ings hasn’t yet had a chance on his own.  So Gerrard has praised them both.

But you need someone to make the runs in behind. So although Ings style may suit Coutinho and Buendia better I dont think it will suit the team better.

Didn’t Ings run in behind with clever movement for his goal vs Brentford?

We'll never agree on this. i dont think Ings will press as well as watkins or will make as many runs in behind as watkins. Lets leave it at that.

We lost that game against a team against the worst team in the Premier League on corrent form. Warkins took no part.

The point was Ings can get in behind, Watkins strength is finishing in the box off crosses and pullbacks, he doesn’t really get in behind , I was alluding to the point you made about getting in behind.

Yes I know what you were alluding too but in my opinion the team is worse with Ings starting ahead of Watkins. We won yesterday and got a good point against man U, theres no need to change anything in the team unless somebody gets injured or we bring somebody better in.  Don't fix if it ain't broken.

He's a Villa player man, there's banter but WTF really?

After a baby it is normal to close up shop, it takes a little time for things to return to normal and hormones level out a little and then he will be back on the saddle.

If Ings is better at getting in behind and Ollie is better at pressing, does that suggest that neither Ings nor Ollie are the right strikers for Villa and we should be looking for upgrades?

Is he really? I think Ollie is better at both but Ings is a better finisher and has a better touch

It was a light-hearted joke about him possibly,  not getting any sex from the spouse since having a new baby 🤔.( It happens ) Hence the frustration? ( I'm pretty sure he's getting it, if that makes it a little better? )

Never realised it was that offensive and apologise if it was seen as such! It was not meant to be in the slightest.

in the last game, he was literally given a golden chance on a platter, but he decided to be 3 yards offside and head it at the keeper, when a blind & legless person would have been expected to put it away.

I understand we can be a little overly harsh on players, as well as overly praising of players, but honestly, if you are defending Watkins' recent performances, im not sure what poor play looks like 2 u, he's been really bad overall for quite a few games, and its not just finishing, control, ball retention, vision, passing to other players rather than being selfish....the list goes on.

watkins had a fairly good first season with us last season, but this season hasnt been good for him at all.
