You're right sorry, I should have got to the end of the thread before quoting.

It was obvious how may many people were going to pick you up on this.

Fansplaining is an amazing, amazing addition to the English language.

This is the key point. The Wesley injury doesn't help our season in any way, because we were chasing reinforcements up front anyway. All it gives us is one less option in attack, and dents the resale value of probably our 4th or 5th most valuable asset (I know, he's shit, he's a **** donkey, bla bla, but the market doesn't work like that). Plus Smith had just found a system that seemed to suit his game. It's really bad news.

Doesn't help but also I don't think it's a major dent in our hope for survival.

We are talking about replacing 5 goals, 1 assist and an average of 12 passes a game.

I'm actually confident that attacking wise we will be matching or improving on that with who we bring in. And while we lose wesley we gain back davis, who I think can come close to what wesley had offered.

I hope you're right, although Davis might take a while to find his form after his injury? It just feels very thin up front, and an injury to our January signing would really set us back.

Unless surgery is required then I can't see why Brazil would have any worse physiotherapy facilities than us?

AFAIK, most moneyed Brazilians will go to the US for private treatment. Also, most top doctors leave developing countries for better pay/conditions elsewhere.

Speedy recovery Wes not sure it should be in Brazil needs to be back at BMH as soon as feasible.

Lets hope the new striker has some quality and Davis can chip in and help, we still need another option in the squad though.

He probably wants to be with his family which is understandable. He has just gone through a terrible experience and probably just wants to be with the ones he lives.

I'm not making a wierd issue out of anything  seems quite natural a player is rehabilitated by the staff of the club that pays his wages to me.

Brazil has an excellent national team. It is entirely possible the best available PCL specialist works for the Brazilian national team and it is a happy coincidence that Wesley will also be available to visit his family as well.

Unless you could predict what would happen for the rest of the season/future, I don't see how this is black and white.

The change of system and evidence from the last match suggests that both he, and the team, could have gone on to do much more than that.

I would even have backed him to pass/assist/score more in that very same game before the injury.

At worst if you doubled that tally it would be 10 goals for the season, and that is counting a barren spell in which you would have to account for how terrible the team were overall.

You haven't placed it in the scenario where the team could possibly go on a good run where we perform well and he scores at least 7 - 10 more goals for the season.

EDIT: I'm not detracting from your overall point, i'm just referencing to the one dimensional-ism of the "Stat", not looking for an argument. lol

Do people thing he just hobbled out of Villa Park, called an Uber to take him to the airport and fecked off to Brazil of his own accord without telling people??

He will have been assessed and a treatment plan developed between him, the medical staff and Villa management - if he is in Brazil, it is because it is part of that plan and I wish him a speedy recovery.

He's a young man who has had the weight of a relegated threatened team on his shoulders, and is now out for 8 months.

Well done the club for letting him go home.

We have seen him perform brilliantly against Everton and Norwich and then continue to look terrible. So i'm not convinced this performance against Burnley was a sign that everything was about to click. What he might have done doesn't really matter. There is no way of really predicting it. So worrying about replacing something that he might have done seems pointless IMO.  He was getting replaced or having stiff compeition brought in this transfer window even if that injury hadn't taken place. Smith's recent comments seem to indicate that.

After 21 games, we are out the bottom 3 and this is what he has produced. He has not been a vital tool for us and I think it's realistic to believe we can replace what he offers fairly easily.

Eh, we've done this before with Wes. He has a great game, we think this is the point where he finallys kicks off, then continues to have many mediocre games to follow.

No one can make definite predictions on how the rest of his season could've gone but tbh, I'm not as optimistic as others despite his last game for us. I think we should, in all honesty be able to find a striker who could at least replace what Wes would've most likely brought for us for the rest of the season based on his performances of the first half of the season.
