what if the best possible care isn't in the UK?

im sure rio has a decent hospital with decent doctors

The bigger thing is probably his mental wellbeing. Long-term injuries are often when players go off the rails because they're bored and lonely. There must be something to be said for having family and friends around. Happy people heal quicker.

He's an Aston Villa player, he should be rehabilitated by Aston Villa staff, if its good enough for Jack it's good enough for Wes.

What if the Aston Villa staff have suggested he spend some time back in Brazil? Why are you making a weird issue of this without knowing what's going on behind the scenes?

I'm not making a wierd issue out of anything  seems quite natural a player is rehabilitated by the staff of the club that pays his wages to me.

Rehabilitation from serious injury can be very difficult mentally. He will be much better served spending the time with his family who can offer him the love and support he needs during a difficult time.

I said it"might" be a blessing in disguise if it motivates the club to sign multiple attacking players on permanent or loan deals.

It's not that my premise "isn't true" as you say. it just seems as if you either don't agree or don't understand.

My point is that the club was already motivated to sign attacking options (as ITK journos have confirmed) - seeing as Wesley has been out of form, Kodjia has been dreadful, and Davis has been injured.

A serious injury to Wesley really doesn't add any necessary impetus to that, but it does damage our chances of either turning him into a better attacking option or selling him on at a reasonable price to fund further purchases.

So it's very hard to see how this is going to be a "blessing in disguise".

He may not be able to do any meaningful rehab for a while. It's quite possible that he's gone back to Brazil on the recommendation of the club doctors.

Maybe an initial couple of weeks back Brazil as In Welseys case you may be right he doesn't seem very mentally robust, however I still believe he needs to going into BMH everyday and training obviously not with but certainly around the squad.

Who cares where he has gone, the main thing is once he is healed he can do a job for Villa on the pitch when he is back, What country he is in during the recovery time... couldn’t care.

I just hope we have the resources to bring in someone of higher current ability.

rehab yes, physio etc light training all by villa of course

2-3 months of recovery 1st, let him do it in brazil, even if it means us flying a doctor over there (we wont have a specialist knee doctor in house anyway, it will be external)

we could also link up with a Brazilian team or the national team and try and use their medical staff* that to me is pretty normal, the biggest clubs would send their player to the states or to wolfgang whatever his name is in Bavaria, then home, then back to the club for the recovery

*tried to see who their physio was but couldn't see it, did however see that their "team co-ordinator" is Juninho! get him on the phone

Lifting dumbbells isn't going to rehabilitate his knee. He won't be able to do any rehab exercises on the knee... he probably has an operation coming up first, anyway.

If he needs surgery the yes fly him to the best possible surgeon, 2-3 months no chance! I was having physio 3 weeka after doing mine and that was 15 years ago!

As I said above my physio started after 3 weeks and I needed surgery.  Better to be doing that around the team.
