I literally don't expect anything from him as an attacking threat. That's how bad he is. That’s kind of where I’m at tbh. Its got to the point where I hope he’s just not anywhere near the ball when we’re attacking. Just leave that to Grealish, McGinn and El Ghazi etc. We should just get him to mind the corner flags next game like Father Dougal McGuire. He’d probably fall over doing that though.
KenjiOgiwara
He probably has £ 20-30 k p/w to play football for us. Give that a think.

Elton
Smith regularly says it, the way we play his role is to occupy the CB’s and allow more time and space for the midfield/wide forwards and you cannot say it hasn’t worked as only the top 5 have scored more than us this season. I’m not saying Wesley is playing great but he is doing fine for me and hopefully will only improve too. 3

I mean, they could both also technically both be earning too much in relation to their contribution for us. One being worse doesn't automatically mean the other one's good. And no, I'm not actually saying that's he shouldn't be earning that much for us. Impossible to say without knowing how good he'll become for us eventually. terrytini
I’m not a critic of his, I think it’s very very early days for a player new to the Country, new to the Team, new to the League. But, so far, he seems very similar overall to Keinan in as much as he does good things away from goal but never really looks threatening. Id be happy to persevere, but equally happy to see an out and out striker, contributing less to overall play, up there.

villa4europe
Gestede, hogan, mccormack We've had 3 far worse strikers in the last 5 years You can throw pre retiring gabby in too He was OK again today, surprised more aren't slaughtering him over the flick on
Popular Post KentVillan
I get that Wesley has some big flaws in his game, but I'm surprised today's performance has pissed people off. I thought this was his best game for us. He bullied their defenders and won quite a few aerial duels. A couple of his "misplaced passes" were the fault of the recipient (e.g. Trezeguet should have easily got to one pass that went out for a throw in). His hold up and link up play were mostly pretty good. He also assisted a disallowed goal. His runs into the box are still too slow and passive, and he really needs to score with a "power" strike soon, or people are going to question whether he knows how to do it. He is also yet to beat a man properly in a 1v1. But I thought today he looked a bit leaner, meaner and sharper, like he's starting to get into PL condition, and learning how to keep the ref on side. He also wasn't waving his arms around and moaning like he used to. His pressing and defensive workrate were excellent, and although everyone says this is just the bare minimum, I thought the shift he put in today was well above the normal expectation of a striker - one lungbusting run back in the second half sticks in the mind. My sense is that there is still a decent player in there, but I do also share the concern about whether he offers enough in that 1v1 situation where you want your striker to find a yard of space and smash the ball into the corner.

So we agree Wesley is a vast improvement there then. He’s scored as many as Liverpool’s Brazilian Centre Forward so far this season.
