There’s reasons. Maybe someone at LUFC’s done it to gauge public response. Maybe it’s a Leeds fan trying to shame their club into keeping him by ‘outing’ them. Maybe Kalvin himself’s done it - especially if he actually wants to leave - to make it seem like he wants to stay. Leave on a high and all. Anyway you look at it I don’t think it helps us at all if we’re in for him, so I could see quite a few reasons why someone might plant it as a story. They're favourites for automatic promotion, so from a footballing perspective, he might as well stay for one more season. This feels a lot like Spurs coming in for Grealish. We're talking about Kalvin Phillips with 1 good season as a DMC. Maybe he will continue that progress and be a CL player in 3-4 years time or maybe he won't live up to the hype.
