Interesting to hear Andrea Stramaccioni confirm on Sky Sports News today, that he "was in touch with Aston Villa two years ago" about the managers job.

Really? I’d say his interviews and press conferences are fine personally, I found Bruce/Mcleish far worse for example.

I miss the entertaining ramblings of Lambert if honest ;)

Dean may seem boring to some but I love hearing him talk, very down to earth and casual, he's always looking to improve himself as well as others which is a humble and quality attribute/attitude to have.

He's clearly quite intelligent as well, which is a blessing after having to listen to Bruce.

Tbf Bruce was intelligent too, he was just extremely calculating and predictable in his interviews. Well rehearsed little act with no substance.

Last year was a learning curve for Dean as well as a new squad too, still cant believe we stayed up. With the right signings we can only go one way..... hopefully.

Bruce is the smartest of the lot, knows exactly how to struggle, get sacked, get paid off big, get re-employed and repeat, probably the wealthiest manager in the prem after Pep

Him and Big Sam, one the 'promotion' specialist' the other the 'staying up specialist'

Interesting article in the express and star.....reporting Dean admitted he was naive last season....which many of us suspected.

His lockdown work clearly had an impact and his honesty is mighty impressive....I want him to do well.

Moving forward it is encouraging he sees the flaws and is addressing them.....thats all we wanted. I guess, i underestimated the learning process he had to make.

He should have had no excuses to improve on general performance and 17th place IMO.

However, no players in is extra frustrating because it'll be hard enough to get current players up to full fitness and ready for the season, forget new ones.

This sounds more negative than it's meant to be. I think a lot of the framework is in place to be at least a steady PL team. We just don't have the players for it yet. Market hasn't taken off at all but we're one of the sides with the capital to take action.

Who is that and would he have done better than promotion, staying up, cup final?

Edit: not being snarky, genuine question.

He had managed Inter Milan, Udinese, Panathinaikos and Sparta Prague, up until 2018. I wasn't suggesting that he would have the better choice. I just thought that it was interesting to hear directly from him, that he was under consideration.👍

Definitely interesting! Not sure how I have missed him - looking at his Wikipedia now. Interesting that his career trajectory is steadily smaller clubs (but still great clubs).

Said this two weeks ago and we're still in the same place

I'd be fuming if I was him.

As of right now 17th would be a very good season imo

We simply don't have the strenght in depth to achieve much more.

Again. Our season is very dependent on Jack. A bit like Palace and Zaha really.

Owners isn't giving Dean much to work with.
