Even if we had been promoted we would have still been having this vote as many would have said that Bruce was a specialist at getting teams promoted but not good enough for the Premier league he can’t win really.  Changing the manager at this point is a huge risk. We have new money but the new ‘owners’ not only have no idea what is involved in running a football club the size of Aston Villa but seem to want to appoint someone who has never managed before,. Surely it would be better to have someone who has built the squad and knows what he is doing running the football side of things ?

Steve Bruce is happily telling everyone that he has lost 8 of the 11 that started the play of final. So where’s this squad he built?

I'm on the fence. I know we won't improve under Bruce, but I can't help but feel, with the window so close and the season start around the corner, we'd be worse off if we got someone new in now.

If it was the start of July I'd have been firmly in the OUT camp.

In.

a new manager coming in now, after most of pre season gone, is too much of a risk. We would get excuses like ‘the players haven’t adapted to my style of play yet’ for the first few games. If it’s Henry, it would be even more of a gamble as nobody knows what kind of a manager he would be.

other than that, Bruce did quite well last year (except promotion of course). He knows the team, the league and the expectations and how to get a result.

Well he's not quite telling the truth there is he?

In for me, I think we need stability right now.

However if the papers are to be believed it sounds like the decision might have already been made.

In for me too, however I agree it looks as if the decision has already been made. Bould as No.2 would give a bit more experience though!

I suspect Dr T will have blamed Bruce for alot of the turmoil.  Lets face it, he wanted to get rid of him in Jan but Wyness talked him out of it.  If Dr T has still any say on the board then Bruce will definitely be gone in my opinion.  Doubt the new owners wouldnt take much persuasion either to get rid.

The short version for me is that it boils down to we wanting us to move in a totally different direction when it comes to tactics, coaching, recruitment attitude and so on.

This won't happen under Bruce, so I want him replaced.

The more detailed reasons for all this has been covered in countless of posts over the last year or so.

I have always been in the Bruce camp and haven't necessarily agreed with much you've posted over the years, but I think you may have this spot on.We seriously do need to move on with the times. Other teams have successfully done it ( Wolves, Fulham, Newcastle, Brighton ). There will always be the Cardiffs, Huddersfield who have succeeded without much talent but with good managers, but we need to be better than that. We have that opportunity now and we must take it. Sorry Brucie but thank you for turning the tanker around. You will be fondly remembered at least by me!

That's pretty much exactly where I'm at.

When people mention stability it makes me unstable.

We DID need stability when Bruce first came in but not now imo.

15 players in over 3 transfer windows.

7 of those no longer here.

IMO Bruce doesn't offer stability more than in name.

If Henry is the alternative then Bruce has to stay IMO.

People say we need a change in direction and I can understand that. However if people think that Henry is going to rock up at Villa Park and suddenly get us promoted then I think they are sorely  mistaken.

Appointing Henry is a PR exercise, nothing more. He hasn't even managed a single competitive game FFS!

Dare I say it reminds me of when the Noses sacked Rowett...and look how that turned out???

He is on a 1 year rolling contract. No matter when they sack him, it will still cost our new owners the same, so they can easily keep him on for a couple of games or whatever until they decide on someone else.

I certainly think , hope, he will be gone sooner rather than later.

I doubt the new guys will want to waste a season.
