The suggestion of Claude Puell isn't a bad one in my opinion.

my only fear is the Soton players didn't exactly idolise him or speak up for him prior to his sacking and we don't have a great history with French personnel (especially with gabby and Micah Richards still on the books)

Of all the things that villa do that annoy me. Inability to take throw ins, passing sideways etc. this is the one which really sets the tone of sitting deeper, game after game. You leave 2 up, they leave 3 back simple.

Yep. It's the very definition of a false economy.

No one French please, purely because our record is terrible and I believe we are cursed with anyone French who joins the club.

And they are all surly.

Or maybe Joswell 'Jossy' Blair!  Now he knew how to get the best out of a team :D   Am I showing my age?

As a by the way, this is the SECOND reference to Josseys Giants I have heard this week. I would say it's probably 20 - 30 years since the last one. How perfectly bizarre.

Preferably someone who believes in tactics.

Preferably someone who isn't scared of losing.

Preferably someone who is the antithesis to Steve Bruce.

I'd like a manager that will make us press high up the pitch.

Not play a DM in every game.

Not treat every single team we face with so much respect because we are the big dick in this division its about time we acted like it.

I voted for Dean Smith, but nobody on that list particularly inspires me.

TO be honest I'm beginning to think it wouldn't change anything anyway.

Something is wrong with this club.

I would have to research the availability of managers which I don't have the time to do atm.

But yes, I believe we should go with this criteria. I was alarmed with the "Championship experience" criteria set previously by the dinosaurs at the top. It's just so short-sighted.

Name some and I'll do the research for you!

Not saying Allardyce is the answer but I don't believe this retired rubbish.

He had some kind of falling out at Palace and left saying he's retired. He's still got years in him as a manager yet. He's had a few months out of the game now and I am sure would come back if offered the right job. Aston Villa would definitely fit the bill for him.

In terms of the squad we've got (I.e. A Steve Bruce squad), Sam Allardyce might be the best choice out there. If we go for someone like Jokanovic we'll need another overhaul next summer imo.
