Yes, he is slow but I don’t think pace is vital for CDM especially in this league, he reads the game quite well and intercepts situations, we miss him when he doesn’t play. He’s played and scored for Australia at the 2018 World Cup, he’s better than you or I on the ball, that’s for sure

Being better on the ball than you are I is about as relevant as his top score on Space Invaders. I also frankly don’t see the relevance of him having played and/or scored in a World Cup, especially a penalty.

He isn’t mobile enough and he isn’t good enough on the ball to be picked by Smith.

You don’t see the relevance of scoring in the biggest football tournament in the world? He’s a specialist CDM, we don’t have many of those, others include Whelan and Hourihane to an extent, so it’s not an embarrassment of riches in that position. A couple of injuries, Mile’s back in the team, I’ve seen many videos of YouTube, where Jedinak is praised by teammates for being a joker or the cleverest in the squad, he’s clearly a popular member of the squad

No, because it’s utterly irrelevant.

A couple of injuries and he is in the team? Yes quite possibly. So what? We are talking about why he isn’t currently in the team.

As for being a joker/clever/popular, again so what?

This is just getting silly.

It’s the pinnacle for any given player to play at the World Cup, the biggest competition on the planet.

He’s still a valued member of the squad, if I was manager, he’d be in the team

It shows that he’s still respected by the other members of the squad despite not being in the side, unfairly so in my opinion. The only reason he’s not in the side is his age

Oh this is just silly.

Yes I know what the World Cup is. It is still utterly irrelevant to the topic at hand.

You aren’t the manager thankfully otherwise you would have tried to build a team around Ethan Moore.

Respected or not by those in the squad is again irrelevant.

As for line about age, you’ve absolutely no basis for stating that, it’s frankly ridiculous given he is the same age as Hutton.

I’ll leave it there

Nothing against him, and he has had some decent performances for us. BUt I hope we never see him in our shirt again. For one he has been injured a lot whilst he has been here. Secondly he has none of the attributes that Smiths style requires. Having him in the team, has always been like having a third centre back. Especially when the opposition have the ball. Even when we could only get results with him in the team (Bruce’s first season), we seemed to play worse as the rest of the midfield has to sit deeper to help cover his lack of mobility. A high pressing fast moving side, does not need a Jedinak.

he has done really well for us at times and his attitude and effort levels are superb, but his injury record is poor and his record as a centre back has been 50/50 at best.

I like him a lot, and if it wasn't for his injury record I think he would still be an asset as a defensive midfielder.

But he spends more time on the treatment table then he does on the pitch and he is on Premiership wages.

and it isn't about age, just look at Whelan and Hutton.

In our system we have no use for a defensive central midfielder that wins lots of headers and can't pass a ball 5 yards.

He's a player of the past on big wages and has very little to offer the current squad.

There was a phase where he was absolutely integral to Steve Bruce, which perhaps tells you more about Steve Bruce than anything else.
