Optimism. I had it at the start of last season.

This is such an unknown to me though. We were awful last season, but that's in the past. We have new players, manager, coaches, owners and opponents.

I think we'll do well in this league. Hopefully well enough to at least make the play offs. Today though? It could be a rude awakening or a good sign.

I think it'll be close but ever the optimist, I think we could nick it. I'm going for 2-1 Villa with goals from Ayew and McCormack.

Let's let the bastards know The Villa are here.

Keep it cool and composed Villa and we may just get a result from this.

It's such a horrible opener though as Wednesday are likely up there as favourites for promotion the Newcastle love in aside.

I am excited more than anything. New season, new start and new possibilities.

Due to his lack of match fitness, my question is does McScoremack start the game and come off after his brace, or does he come on in the 70th minute to score his brace?

I'm thinking

                      golinni

Hutton Elphick Baker Cissokho

            Westwood Gardner

                      Tshibola

McCormack            Grealish

                    Ayew

That is the team I thin RDM will go for

Thats probably the best 4-3-3 we have at the moment

but having to rely on Hutton, Cissohko & Westwood doesnt fill me with confidence

Would feel safer with 3-5-2

okore Elphick Baker

a balanced 3 R-C-L

Bacuna & Bennet (if Amavi not matchfit) as wing backs

Lyden & Tshibola holding

Grealish as AM

Front 2 of McGoal & Ayew

They went undefeated in pre season, I know it doesnt mean much but they battered everyone. Fostieri scored in every game. We have to defend well against him to win
